When you body clock is off you feel tired and sluggish and it is hard to enjoy your vacation or take care of business. You are so exhausted on vacation that when you return if feels like you never took a vacation. You can recover from jet lag and it doesn’t have to ruin your trip. Flying is exhausting for many people and for different reasons. If you have a fear of flying, you will be stressed and nervous throughout the flight. Then it takes some time for you to get it together before enjoying your vacation. A long flight will cause dehydration and going through hours of a time zone switch can mess up your internal clock. Your body’ clock is regulate through the daylight and nighttime and when that changes, it can cause you to feel disconnected.
You should find the best way to relax when flying so you will be well rested when you arrive at your destination. A prescription drug can help it you suffer from any phobias. You should speak to your physician but remember that over-the-counter drug or any drug can cause dehydration. When you fly, you are breathing pure oxygen over an extended length of time and your body will be depleted. Always drink plenty of water before the flight, during the flight, after you land and during your stay. Your body should feel as if nothing is different and it will react better to the actual change. If you are traveling to a different time zone start preparing your body before you board the plane.
If you are changing time zone by more than eight hours, like traveling from the East Coast to the West Coast, make sure to get some sleep on the plane. You can stick to your schedule as if you were still in the same time zone. You should stay awake until it is your normal bedtime and this may help prevent some jet lag. The following day, get plenty of sunshine and some light activity that gets your blood pumping. On the return trip home, do the reverse and your body will never know the difference. If it is a short trip, stick to your regular schedule as much as possible. Eat dinner a few hours earlier so that it is the same time as if you were home. Try to keep your schedule as normal as possible and avoid distressing changes. As long as you keep the body clock on course you should be able to recover quickly from jet lag.
