Here are a few packing recommendations from Remington Moving and Storage. When you start packing for your next move, bear in mind, an important part of first-rate packing is knowing what not to pack. Remington Moving & Storage, makes the following suggestions concerning items you shouldn't pack during your next move.

You are advised not to pack oil and fuel. Not only are they inflammable, they also easily spill from equipment and containers and ruin expensive goods being moved along side them. Should you be planning to transport a fuel containing apparatus such as a gas powered lawn mower be certain to cautiously drain the tank. Additionally don't pack partially used cans of paint thinner, oil or other substances that might leak. Throw them away instead. Propane tanks can be transported long distance, but only if they are professionally emptied and cleaned. They are forbidden to be transported in local moves. Though you are able to transport satellite dishes, think twice before you do. Dismantling along with transporting the dish might cost more than purching a new one.

Flammable compounds are also no-nos when it comes time to making the next move. Make sure you throw away flammable, corrosive or explosive items including the following goods acid, gasoline poisons, charcoal, lighter fluid, fertilizer, paints, car batteries, matches, nail polish plus remover, ammunition, fluid bleach, stern, aerosols, kerosene, swimming pool chemicals, chemistry sets, fireworks, pesticides, motor oil, paint remover, batteries, loaded weapons, weed killer, ammonia, lamp oil, propane tanks, and cleaning fluid.

Yet one more class of substance that should absolutely be excluded from your packing is anything imperishable. Just imagine the item rotting and then dripping moldy smelly fluid onto a valuable household item, and you will realize why the item must be excluded. A superior way for prepare your fridge for your move is to wash it out and let it dry and aerate, for at least twenty four hours ahead of packing time. Keep in mind that a bit of worthless mold or liquid from a unpreserved item might potentially ruin a important family item that is packed close to it.

Before packing valuables, clarify what your mover's insurance will or will not cover. Most moving firms will not insure small valuables such as coins, bracelets gold, stocks, stamp collections, etc. Thus you will have to make separate preparations to have these items transported.

Some items such as pistols can be transported long distances. But, you must tell your mover that you have such possessions, before the actual move.
