How Digital Signage Works in Advertising

The TiVo, Internet and DVD era has made to hard for advertisers to build sales by using traditional means of advertising like radio, television and print media. New technology has also lead to a new breed of innovative forms of advertising. Digital signage is growing and becoming more popular among advertisers.

Many of the digital advertisements are seen outside of the home but most advertisements is run on television or on the Internet in certain areas. Screen size, placement, content, ad format, environment and the target audience show the usual advertising methods. A console that is operated by a programmer sends the electronic data to other terminals by not having to change the terminal location. The console uses the digital signage software. Every electronic screen will display the advertisements and any messages that the advertiser chooses. They can also choose the format, which can include video, text or animation.

The administrative console is a digital device that allows the advertisements to be controlled remotely. The ads can be displayed as a non-moving image, moving image or a motion video it just depends on what the advertiser wants. For an hour, the images are displayed several times in that hour. The number of ads and the number of screens on which they are to be displayed will determine how much exposure each will receive. Digital signage can help the advertisers achieve results by reaching their target demographic and sending marketing messages out to ordinary places. Areas that have high pedestrian traffic are ideal for signage and that may include bus terminals, malls or department stores. The displays are constantly changing and will catch the consumer’s eye.

The maintenance of the console requires little training and it can program messages and videos as well as signs. The video programs can be downloaded or saved to a computer with new hardware. The returns on this investment are getting the attention of many companies. By choosing how much time and the number of screens they want to advertise on will determine their exposure. Prices also are determined by how many screens will show their ads, the number of hours it will be shown, and how many times it is displayed. Advertising packages are available to companies.

Advertisers need to have their ads placed in areas that are certain to reach their target audience. Location is very important and it should be taken into consideration the ages of consumers that are prone to frequent those areas.
