Our words present to the external world what our inner world is like. Our thoughts are revealed through our emotions and our emotions are shown through our language. The words that we use and their impact on Spiritual Growth will be the focus of this article.
Spiritual Healing is the process of moving closer to our complete state. Our complete state is when our true nature shines through. And our true nature is that which was given to use by our creator.
To let our true nature shine through we need to take off the many filters that distort our projected inner beauty. What makes up these filters? They are made up of our emotions and our thoughts. Our words are what expresses both our thoughts and emotions.
The question is, why select language as the central focus of my attention? I could simply have focused on thoughts or emotions. The reason I have chosen language is because they are the easiest to take note of. And our friends and associates can easily show us our employ of Words.
When someone comments on your emotions it is easy to disagree with their point of view. But if they said that you said "I hate everybody" or "I love everybody" that is hard to challenge. We are able to see our growth by the language that we employ. Change your language and you can change your life.
It is difficult to directly change your thoughts because thoughts are so fleeting. I am sure you have noticed how your thoughts roam from topic to topic. It is very hard to stop them long enough to see what is going on.
The same is true for your emotions. I am sure you have been surprised by your emotional reactions. Usually by the time we recognize an emotional state, such as anger, we might be to far gone too be able to change what is going on.
There is a difference with words. You can retract words after you have spoken them. You can change you words completely or simply change the order of what you have said. Instead of saying "You make me mad" you could say "What you are doing makes me mad". There is a world of difference between those two sentences.
How does this help change the filters that block our true nature from shining through. The central filters are all our irrational negative emotions. Emotions such as fear, hate, jealousy, anger etc... These negative emotions are best replaced with positive emotions such as gratitude, love, patience, kindness etc...
By paying attention to what we say we can substitute the positive for the negative. Our thoughts and emotions will turned into more uplifting the more our language turned into uplifting.
The more we clear away the negative the more the positive grows and the more our true nature shines through.
