Have you ever pondered how to make extra money on-line when you can't even work your DVD player? There's a lot of half truths about this subject, and about ‘Web 2.0’ or Social Media.’ So if you've been researching how to make extra money online for any period of time you can be forgiven for thinking it's all 'smoke and mirrors'.
But before you pull out your hair and chuck your computer out of an upstairs window, you must understand two indisputable facts. Firstly, people from all over the world, some from very limited educational backgrounds have earned enough extra money online to be financially independent and secondly, the job market, pension, and government initiative (oxymoron?) will not secure your family's future. Giving up on your online dream is not really an option.
'So if I really can understand how to make extra money online, what are the strategies that other people are using?' Smart question. The simple answer is that they are providing a product, service or information that people want and are getting in the 'click path' of those people at the instant they want to buy. Easy? Simple, maybe, rather than easy.
An efficient way that you can do this is to build a very simple website using programs like 'Frontpage 2003' or ‘Kompozer’ to name but two. Or better still, set up a blog using Wordpress.org.
You should then make sure you capitalise on all your site’s visitors by sending them to a ‘squeeze’ page where you can capture their first name (for personalisation purposes) plus their all important e-mail addresses in a form box. You can get the html code to create this form from any autoresponder account such as Aweber or GetResponse.
If you’ve set up a blog, include links to your capture pages in all your updates. Web 2.0 Methods like social bookmarking offer numerous ways to promote your blog, notably Technorati.com, Digg.com and Stumbleupon.com
After visitors have opted in to your subscriber list, having clicked on an email you send them asking them to confirm their subscription (double opt-in), you can then take them to a product page where the hottest prospects get the chance to buy from you. A low cost product such as $7 can be a great price point because it’s a tiny purchasing decision but yet the psychology of having already bought something from you works hugely in your favour down the road.
You can then create a series of e-mail messages that your autoresponder will send out to your list at predetermined intervals. If a message is time-sensitive, you can ‘broadcast’ to your whole list in addition to your pre-programmed ‘follow-up’ sequence.
You can make extra money online when you promote free offers as well as affiliate products on which you can earn commission. Your list is far more responsive than trying to cold pitch new visitors every day.
This is where Web 2.0 strategies crank into action. If you build lists of friends within communities such as Facebook, Gather, Twitter and LinkedIn, it is a small step for people to click on any link you subtly include in your posts. Offer value to these communities, with uplifting messages or witticisms, but don’t be afraid to include links to your squeeze page. That's not spamming, as long as you're providing some sort of value.
Social Media is not going to be your only means of generating traffic but don’t overlook it. There are many ways you can make extra money online by employing Web 2.0. You just need to take time out to study some strategies – it will pay off big time.
