If you think that you wish to 'get motivated' ... then I am sorry but you're thinking in reverse.
Why?
As a result of neither motivation nor inspiration are things that you'll get 'out there', like they're things you'll be able to buy at a supermarket.
Will a tree want to 'get motivated' to succeed in its branches towards the sky?
Does a river would like to 'find inspiration' to flow all the way down to the ocean?
They sound like silly queries right?
But they're no additional 'silly' then the notion that you wish to 'get motivated' to be the success you're naturally destined to be.
In saying things like, "I would like to induce motivated" or, "I want to find inspiration" you create a separation at intervals ... a motivator and a motivatee.
Doing this could create an indoor situation where half of your mind becomes the "Task Master", the one with a whip and a drill sergeant's bellow, and another half the "Wretched Slob" who performs up to straightforward only to keep the whip off his back. Such internal conflict is damaging to one's well-being and is additionally a serious waste of energy.
This sort of motivation is external and artificial. 'True' motivation and inspiration are internal and come back as naturally as breathing.
You see, there are four types of people. The primary is that the unconscious incompetent. This can be the person that does not even grasp that they do not know. This is often rock bottom rung in the ladder.
The second type of person is the aware incompetent. This can be the person that knows that they don't know, but they still do not recognize what to do. The model higher than of "The Task Master" and "Wretched Slob" fits this kind of person well. They consciously need to be achieving things however their internal incompetencies and temperament traits sabotage this desire.
The next sort of person is the aware competent. This can be the person who knows what to try to to, and then if they think about it, they can go ahead and do it. Instead of the "Wretched Slob" this person might internally be a "Super Star" but they still would like "The Task Master" along with his whip.
The very best level of person, though, is that the unconscious competent. This can be the person who has it so ingrained in them on what to try to to, that they do not even have to think about it. They merely automatically do it.
The unconscious competent will not want any type of external motivator ... motivation for them is a natural, internal state of being.
Chapter thirty eight of the Tao Te Ching1 begins by saying:
One in all delicate universal virtue
isn't conscious of being virtuous,
therefore, he is really virtuous.
Applied to motivation, it could be modified to say:
One among refined universal motivation
is not aware of being motivated,
therefore, he's truly motivated.
Look at young kids playing. Do they need conscious motivation to be playfully exuberant? It's only when social conditionings encroach that this natural exuberance diminishes and we have a tendency to need to resort to artificial 'motivational systems' therefore that we can do the things that used to return to us 'naturally'.
Here's a private example, for a protracted amount of time my internal "Task Master" would be perpetually telling me to exercise additional as a result of I wasn't as fit and trim as I used to be. I tried all types of processes including reward/punishment systems, time management systems, personal trainers, going to the gym and therefore the list goes on.
But then in a very moment of clarity my inner youth piped up and said, "Hey! Would not it be much easier if you just did one thing that you actually enjoyed?"
That is once I discovered Hacky Sack. For the uninitiated a Hacky Sack is like a very little bean bag that you have got to attempt and carry on within the air with only your feet ... just like the professional soccer plays do with soccer balls.
Taking part in Hacky Sack on behalf of me is not exercise the least bit ... not within the sense of, "OK currently I am exercising." I went from struggling to 'exercise' once per week to having up to two or 3 full-on sessions with the Hacky Sack every single day. I grab each chance I can to kick that small sphere of joy up into the air!
You see my motivation to exercise went from an external, artificial affair to an 'unconscious competence' state of being. By digging deep within me and discovering that my true nature is terribly playful, exuberant, and youthful I used to be in a position to find 'automatic motivation' to engage in exercise.
I now do not must 'get motivated' to exercise ... I simply get out there and play as a result of I'm motivated from inside to try and do something that I extremely love doing.
And there ... right there ... is the essence of motivation.
In the I Ching (the Book of Changes)two you will notice that it's the character of things forever to be ever-changing, ever in motion, ever 'motivating' into new manifestations. So it can be said that 'motivation' could be a natural prime mover that keeps life occurring its merry course.
When viewed in this lightweight motivation will be seen as a core fundamental principle of your terribly being. Therefore if you're feeling you are full of a scarcity of motivation it primarily means you have got cut yourself off from your core inner reservoirs. It means that you're not in tune with your true nature.
At a basic level this can be caused by two things:
a) You have an indoor 'blocker' that is preventing you accessing your inner reservoir of motivation. In essence, your inner 'river' of inspiration has been clogged up with a lifetime of debris and conditionings.
b) Conjointly, an absence of motivation will be the results of partaking in one thing that is not truly your 'path of heart' (which is typically caused by having internal blockers).
The solution in fact is to remove these internal blockers so that you can once again integrate along with your limitless reservoirs of natural energy, enthusiasm, and motivation. Unblock the dam and also the river flows again.
Until you'll be able to tap into your inner supply of motivation your makes an attempt to 'get motivated' will only create superficial motivation as a result of when you stop the motivation process you run out of motivation. Like when you are cold you place a jacket on to induce warm, however when you are taking the jacket off you get cold again.
What you wish to try to to is to reach the stage of being unconsciously competent, or unconsciously motivated. Motivation needs to be so a lot of a half of your being that you don't even notice that you're being motivated.
You see that is the key to motivation ... it is not concerning how to 'get motivated' ...
...but a way to 'be motivation'.
As a result of the reality is that you simply already are motivation. You simply need to clear away the 'debris' and let your natural motivation and inspiration flow forth.
