In order to be able to win a paintball game for your team you should be skilled in defensive strategies. In fact, all your team members should be acquainted with good defensive strategies so that they protect themselves from being shot, as well as their flags from being captured, by the opponents. It is on the basis of a successful defense that the foundation of victory is laid.
However, excessive cautiousness in defense may cause a team to lose momentum and give an opportunity to the opponents to move too close. So, a good defensive strategy must not be overplayed. It should just be enough to save the team from losing and enable it to attack at the first opportune moment. Here we give some useful defense tactics which you may apply to win a paintball game for your team-
1. Take care to cover yourself safely from opponents' firing paintballs from every direction. Especially, be careful to hide yourself from close range fire.
2. Rather than hiding places, look for concealments from where you can execute a sudden attack. After all, you will not rest infinitely in hiding but will have to attack sooner rather than later, and the best way of doing so would be to take the enemy by surprise.
3. Each member of the team should occupy a different position. All must not be grouped at the same place as that would cause multiple elimination from a single round of fire if the place comes under enemy attack. In that case, it would be like giving away the game on a platter.
4. If you are the team leader, you must work extra hard to back up your team members. They must be within your sight all the time. You must back them in counter attack if they are surprised by an enemy fire.
5. You should also keep your firing instincts under control. Concentrate on specific targets, not blindfire, so that neither effort nor paintballs are wasted unnecessarily. It is also futile to fire at a sure target, in that case you should ask for surrender.
In paintball, an effective attack is always supported by a strong defensive strategy. When you aim at a target and hit it, you are actually able to do so because of your good defensive position; otherwise you wouldn't have been aware of the positioning and movements of your target and certainly not in a position to aim at it. Therefore, always back the attack plans of your team with a strong defense; this is the sure shot way to win the game.
