Why do so many people imagine that they can live their lives without ever having to work for anything. That just won't happen. This is not the movies and you will need to work for what you get. There is no secret potion, you get what you put in, especially when it comes to affiliate marketing.
If you are just new to internet marketing, or just recently got going, you have probably already been exposed to at least one email or website promoting the cookie cutter system to making a living online. Find a niche, create a site, wait for the traffic to come and then the sales will happen. Then repeat for another and another site. As I am sure you can tell this system will just not work. Sitting around waiting will not accomplish anything.
This system is flawed, and if you follow it you won't ever earn a single penny from affiliate internet marketing. Without promotion the products your are selling will just not sell, period. It is just that simple. You have to promote. The more you promote the more money you are likely to earn in commissions. It is not a hard concept to recognize, and yet there are many people who still believe in the "build it and they will come" (and buy) philosophy.
If you want to earn more, you need to do more. Take your online (affiliate marketing) business seriously, or you are just wasting your time. It is a business, so you need to treat it like a business and work at it.
If you are just planning to work a hour here and an hour there and make lots of money, then again you are destined to fail. You must set aside regular business hours. Now these don't have to be full time hours (if you are still working your regular job), but they should be set hours each day where you will be doing your marketing, as well as administrative work. Those business hours should also include time for research. This research time could include things such as: learning about new products in your niche, learning what people are looking for in your niche (so you can give it to them), or even learning new marketing techniques.
You may have noticed that I did not mention any time for marketing, yet I told you without marketing you would never get anywhere. That is because as an affiliate marketer I feel that 95% of your business hours should be spent on marketing. Writing emails, writing sales copy, placing ads, or developing new products to promote other products, such as giveaway ebooks or free reports are the things which are going to be taking most of your time.
If you want to fail, it is really easy, just do anything at all. Statistics show that at least 90% of the so called "business" people who sign up for affiliate programs will do absolutely nothing with it. You need to be on that top 10%, and be willing to do what is necessary to promote each product.
Working five minutes a day will not bring you $1000 a week. No matter how much you want it to, it will not work. Once you have put in the hard work and followed a good system; building a list, building a good solid website, etc. then you will be able to reap the benefits. This will not happen right away, so you need to make sure you work smart and keep building a name for yourself.
