Choosing a guitar can be a daunting prospect, especially if you're searching to purchase for the first time.
Is there really a greatest beginner guitar?
First you have to choose What Kind of Guitar you would like to learn.
Do you would like to play Acoustic Guitar?
Learn Electric Guitar?
or perform Bass Guitar?
These questions could be answered by looking at the type of music you would like to perform on your guitar.
I'm taking a wild guess but I suspect that most of you available wish to play either the electrical bass or the electric guitar. Hopefully several of you'll select the acoustic guitar, as I believe it's a stunning instrument that deserves to be a lot more widely played. It's also a great instrument to begin beginners on, as no matter how loud you perform an acoustic guitar the neighbours aren't going to ask you to MOVE!!:)
How Old Do You Have to Be to Begin the Guitar?
You can begin your kid pretty early about the guitar as you can get 1/2 scale (that's half the size of a normal guitar) (as much as 6 years) or 3/4 scale guitars (as much as 10-12 many years).
Just keep in mind that if they're starting very young (5-8 many years old) they'll have to start on an acoustic with nylon strings. You truly don't want your young kid to come to you with bleeding hands from playing on metal strings!
Expenses?
For an acoustic guitar you're looking at $80- upwards
For an electric guitar it is from $120 - upwards
For an electrical bass it's around $120 - upwards
When you're looking to purchase any type of guitar there are some important facts you have to bear in mind.
1. You need to make sure you are comfortable using the instrument. Most of the time guitars in the store are not 'set up' correct, meaning how the neck is most likely bent slightly and that the strings are too high or as well low about the fretboard, making it truly feel uncomfortable to you.
Nevertheless, you could be playing a Excellent instrument if it is set up right, so my advice is go to a number of shops and play the same guitar. If this isn't possible, and you are seriously considering buying the instrument, tell this towards the shop guy and ask him to 'set it up' for you. Most stores will do this, though some might not.
2. Make sure the electronics are all working,
3. That the neck is straight and above all that you truly feel a 'connection' using the guitar.
4. You also have to make certain that you purchase within your price range, set yourself a limit and don't go over it.
5. I would not advise purchasing second-hand from eBay without really seeing and actively playing the instrument.
Strings
Needless to say all guitars need a set of strings but how frequently do you need to alter them?
Acoustic Guitar
Whenever you alter strings is dependent upon how frequently you play, your actively playing style, your care with the strings, and the effect your hands have on the strings. The short answer to this question is between 15 to 30 hours of play! Here's why: As you perform, the strings will collect dirt and oils from your hands. This causes the strings to become dead and to vibrate unevenly along their length (also causing tuning problems). Dirt and oils get into the windings and down inside to the core of the strings where it can cause corrosion of the core. If your hands are dirty or if your hands perspire whenever you play, this will shorten the string life. Wiping the strings off every time you're finished actively playing will assist prolong their life. Also should you bend strings or play difficult this will cause flat spots on the strings particularly at the fret locations, shortening their life.
