Nomad: On the desolate steppes of 18th-century Kazakhstan, when opponent tribes battle for freedom, mystic combatant Oraz saves a baby descended from Genghis Khan who is destined to join the country as "Mansur". Historical fable has nasty sabers-on-horseback fights and excellent production layout (genuine human being add-ons) however trudging storytelling. Cast includes Kuno Becker, Jay Hernandez, Jason Scott Lee, and Mark Dacascos. (110 minutes, 2005)
Nightmare on Elm Street: A few teenagers find they're all having bad dreams about the same bad guy, scar faced Fred Krueger, a sort of ghost who can enter their dreams at will and attack them while they sleep. It's up to Nancy Langenkamp to try to stop Freddy Krueger. Cast includes Lionel Atwill, Fay Wray, Glenda Farrell, Allen Vincent, Blunt McHugh, and Arthur Edmund Carewe. (77 minutes, 1933)
Good to Go: Forgettable fare in reference to reporter Garfunkel, who's framed on a rape-murder charge. Highlighted are the musical works of such groups as Redds & the Boys, Trouble Funk, Get rid of Brown & the Mind Scavengers, amid others. Copycat: Helen Hudson is being asked out of retirement to investigate a baffling set of murders. Hudson is a forensic psychologist specialized in serial killers. With detective M.J. Only the Strong: An Ex-Green Beret, his old Miami high school friend now bullied by a drug lord, turns twelve of the joint's worst criminals into crime-busters by teaching them a hypnotic, Brazilian form of martial arts. They will now settle the score. Dopey however inoffensive; at its best in potently choreographed fight scenes.
