With the recession, saving money on anything is a priority right now. Here are some useful tips on how to decide which HDTV to buy.

Do plenty of research on the TV you are looking to buy. Check it has all the features you want and is the right size for your room.

1) Purchase 720p or 1080i instead of 1080p when purchasing a 32 inch or smaller.

We can all argue the advantages and disadvantages over 1080i and 720p, but the reality is that 1080p really isn't important unless you are getting a larger screen, above 32 inch. Purchasing a 1080p at 32 inch or below is pointless and a waste of money if you can find a 720p/1080i at a lower price.

3) Go for a decent brand. There a so many out there to pick from, Sony Bravia and Samsung are reputable makes, however, there are many other good makes out there such as LG, Toshiba and Panasonic. Do some research and find out what reviews they receive.

3) Extended warranty. In most cases it's not worth paying extra for an additional extended warranty. Will you be paying more for the warranty than the TV will be worth in the coming years? In most cases the answer is, yes.

4) Wait for the next model to come out and then get the previous model. As soon as a new model comes out, the previous models demand instantly drops, followed by a price drop. This is a great time to get a HDTV.

5) Dont be Affraid to Buy refurbished. Don't be put off by refurbished HDTVs. Big savings are generally given to refurbished HDTV's, usually with decent warranties included. A returned TV with a slight scratch could save you 100.

6) I used http://www.hdtvbestdeals.co.uk to help me choose the right HDTV. The site offers the latest HDTV's with ratings and features, including a link to the best buy.

Combine these tips, they can save you a small fortune!
