Having recently purchased a new property I have been on the lookout to get hold of a a small number of lovely pieces to furnish it with. I like the look and feel of antique furniture but it can be exceedingly hard to come across just what you are looking for and the prices can be excessive. In terms of the choice and pricing it made much more sense to look at reproduction pieces but I didn't want to compromise too much on the quality.
I spent a fair amount of time researching and browsing various sites before coming across the Newby House Interiors site. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and range that they have on offer. It's a nicely laid out website so it was easy to find the exact items I was after.
We spent quite a few hours browsing their collections which cover the full range of furniture from bedrooms to living rooms and dining rooms - all available in a variety of styles. The site is very well laid out so it's a breeze to quickly find the items you are after.
We were particularly looking for occasional pieces to fill a few gaps in the house and they have a very nice selection of reproduction coffee tables and reproduction hall tables. My partner loved the Seymour tables which come in a choice of walnut or mahogany finish but the Bradley pieces, of which they have a large number, were more suited to the overall look of our place. I think most people would find something to suit their taste and budget from the wide range available there..
The quality of all the pieces they have on display really looks superb and fully justified our decision to go the reproduction route. To be honest I think you would have to be quite the expert to even tell the reproduction items from the originals. They don't just look 'old' - the way the French polishers have carefully added distress to the pieces is simply amazing. The hue and sheen of the wood really does make it look like some family heirloom that has obtained its character from years of love and use!
The care and attention to detail that goes into all their ranges is what makes the difference in my humble opinion. They choose the best cuts of wood to show off the grain and texture and the construction and finishing process is carefully aimed at producing a piece of reproduction furniture that is as close as possible to the original item made centuries ago.
There are a lot of high quality images of the various pieces from each range on the site and tons of detail and info about the particular choices of wood, veneer and finish for each. There is even a YouTube video available where you can see them yourself in detail and learn more about the alternatives and finishing processes involved.
If you are looking to purchase some reproduction pieces or simply have a passion for beautiful furniture then I would really recommend taking a look at this site and the collections they have there. They offer a full interior design service if you are furnishing a home from scratch and quick delivery on all items. At the time of writing they even have a 40% discount on the entire range.
