I am quite stunned at some web marketers right currently (even some seasoned ones).
"Ooh, Ooh! Video is the next huge, shiny object, let's utterly shift our marketing methodology and use video by itself only!"
Do not get me wrong, video is certainly a very vital half of an online marketing method, and closely corresponds to trends in how people are using and partaking in content (for currently)...but that's it.
That is where video's importance ends folks.
Therefore, let's cowl the inspiration for this post...
(and a number of this may resonate with you too)
...I receive an email telling me regarding a "stunning" video on affiliate marketing...
...I click the link to watch the video...
...and I can not management the video at all! (no play/pause/stop controls)
The video simply plays, and of course it is a pitch with very little content (if any in any respect with this explicit one). I do not even know how long it absolutely was, however it starts enjoying (automatically)...and won't let me control the video to work out how I want to observe it.
And before a get the email...yes...I AM a half of this market, as I prefer to observe totally different ways that to promote affiliate merchandise using the Internet.
Thus I clicked off of the video, I mean, thank god I did not need to:
-- Move to the toilet, as a result of the video kept playing.
-- Do anything else (which most individuals do while participating content) as a result of the video would have kept playing.
-- Miss something said of importance IN the video, as a result of there is NO WAY to go to bound points of the video, I would need to watch the WHOLE FRIGGIN THING again.
-- And on, and on...
But that is not all, there's another necessary distinction the marketer in query is not creating here:
What if I did not want to watch the video in the first place?
Where are the other choices for content? (i.e. downloadable audio, i-Tunes, PDF, etc...etc...)
None.
An open message to marketers who are using this...quit being lazy and a minimum of do some testing!
And before I purchase the email...yes, I can tell you are not testing alternative ways of engagement with most of these types of offers.
By the approach, I'm not the sole one who is part of this market and would click off of any of those videos (even if they were attention-grabbing).
And, if you think that regarding it...isn't it kind of arrogant to think that your content is thus good that I need to merely sit through your video without stopping for any reason? (unless in fact it's a scheduled seminar, and not a pause)
Of us, it's about giving the consumer choices that make sense...not assuming or forcing them to consume the means YOU need them to.
