There are activities for the athletically minded as well as ones for people who would like to relax in the beauty of the island. The diversity of activities, suits individuals, couples, as well as families.
1.Hike Diamond Head
On the challenging list is a hike on Diamond Head. Not far from Waikiki, Diamond Head is one of the greatest known volcanic craters. The steep trail offers two choices, 99 steps or 76. Both will get you to the top of this path and offers a stunning view of the Island’s west side once you reach the peak. You will be hiking through a 225 foot tunnel so you may want to bring your flashlight. This awesome trek is especially lovely at sunrise.
2.Visit Pearl Harbor
One of the most popular tourist destinations on Oahu is Pearl Harbor. The only Naval Base in the United States that is also designated as a National Historical Landmark, Pearl Harbor offers visitors a chance to learn more about American history. While there, you will want to stand on the decks of the Arizona Memorial and breathe in the memories. Beautiful and educational, this is a must see destination during travels to Oahu.
3.Spend time in the environmental preserves
A couple of environmental sites provide scenic and breathtaking splendor for Oahu’s visitors. The Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve sees three million visitors a year. This natural resource offers visitors a chance to learn more about marine and aquatic animals in an extremely beautiful atmosphere. The Kualoa Ranch is one of the most sacred places on Oahu. The southern half of the ranch includes Hakipu`u Valley and is home to the 800 year old Moli i fishpond and Secret Island. The northern half of the ranch is the site of many movie locales. This beautiful location is another on the must see list.
4.Check out the Ko Olina Resort
Knowledgeable travelers visit the Ko Olina Resort and Marina. The Marina offers snorkeling, boat rentals, deep sea fishing, and so much more to make this destination a family friendly and fun place to visit. Take some time to snorkel the most beautiful, magnificent, and well preserved reef, located about 100 yards off of Lanikuhonua. Lanikuhonua is a historical Ko Olina site with a small beachfront cove. It is protected by large boulders and has three lagoons making it a snorkeler’s paradise.
5.Take a dip with the sealife
Swim and snorkel among the sea turtles, dolphins, and marine life close to ancient coral reefs on Oahu’s Westside next to the Ko Olina resorts. Wild Side Specialty Tours offers dolphin encounters, whale watching (including giant hump back whales), protected sea turtle experiences, and more. You might even see some Hawaiian monk seals during your excursion. Kahe Point, a little North of Ko Olina resorts, offers tourists a chance to see and interact with the Hawaiian Spinner Dolphins. You can even schedule time to swim with the dolphins. These adventures will provide memories to last forever.
Whether you spend the day on a dolphin tour, hiking, or snorkeling in the coral reefs, you are bound to have the time of your life. A romantic sunset cruise off the Ko Olina coast will top off any adventure. Stargazing, with shooting stars to wish upon, and the beautiful marine wildlife will make your sunset cruise a once in a lifetime experience. Mahalo.
