When writing children's books, the initial stage in writing your book is often the trickiest. You will have no doubt satisfied yourself that your concept for a book is certainly a winner, and now you simply have to translate that inspiration into reality. But to be able to achieve that you will actually have to write it! This is where you generally invent numerous reasons for putting off starting it "just yet".
So, what is the easiest way to go about it? Well, listed here are a few thoughts to assist you in getting started.
1. Determine what's stopping you making a start.
Take a few moments and think about this. Make a list. Is it Work commitments? Household commitments? Social commitments? Perhaps you might be surrounded by distractions, or perhaps you simply can't keep motivated?
There's one easy approach to deal with this - lock your self away. This is a crucial approach. Block out at the least 3 hours of your time and let all and sundry know you can't be interrupted. Then take away all types of interruption - switch off your mobile, your house phone, your e mail and anything else that might interrupt you.
Writing children's books involves dedication and an important factor you can commit is your time. If you want your kid's book to become a reality you must do this.
2. Have a plan
Set yourself some targets. Say to your self 'This week I will finish the outline for my book.' This may appear daunting, but once you commit your self to doing it you'll be pleased with yourself once it comes true. However don't stop there, make sure that you now set the next specific goal, and have a series of additional targets either written down (ideally), or at the very least, in mind.
3. Maintain a journal of success
Every day write a brief sentence saying what you have achieved, then you'll have a physical record in your hands and evidence that you are actually making progress. Scan through your diary at regular intervals, particularly in case you are discovering it problematic to keep focused.
4. If all else fails
If you just can't get started or are undergoing writer's block there may be one method that may help. Just write! Take a clean piece of paper on your desk and simply begin writing - anything. It may be gibberish to start with but it's going to begin the inventive machine and you'll be surprised how quickly your writing becomes focused and your children's book will get started.
With a bit of luck this short article might have given you some thoughts and drive for beginning that much awaited children's book.
I want to wish you every success in your future career as a children's book writer.
