Many people may already know what a T1 line is, even a few gamers, however, not everyone may know how it is used in everyday business. In this article you will discover 5 ways in which many businesses are already utilizing this technology and deploying it on a daily basis to help their businesses. You may even decide you need a T1 line for your business as well.

1. Domain Server Hosting – There are some businesses that require the ability to host their own websites for various reasons. Sometimes it can be a security issue or something like being able to control customization of features for their sites. Many business use Internet T1 to help ensure the uptime for their servers and is the main driving force of the higher cost associate with a T1 line opposed to DSL or cable Internet. Uptime along with speed and capacity or the main driving reasons for a leased Internet line through a T-carrier.

2. Secure Database - Some businesses with sensitive information or data may need to host their own secure internal servers. Anything from private video conferencing between important personnel to customer credit card information may be stored but need to be remotely accessed for other key employees and officials. This T1 type of configuration is commonly known as a P2P or otherwise point-to-point network.

3. Financial Transactions – Grocery stores, clothing stores, auto shops, and anything between can become a bustling grove of activity at any given moment. All at once you may need to handle ATM and/or credit card transactions at once. In order to handle these transactions you need reliable and fast bandwidths to process orders. When transactions are able to keep flowing without interruption, stores are better managed and the sales are able to go through quicker. Building your return on Investment (ROI) on a technical expense is best displayed in these scenarios with a T-1 line.

4. Outbound Call Centers – While often associated with the Internet, a voice T1 is a popular product used for busy outbound call centers with the need for multiple phone lines running from the same physical location. One primary telecommunication expense with outbound call centers is the cost of long distance. Return on Investment for a voice T1 is great for many successful telemarketing companies making it a very popular product. Another way voice can be used with a T1 line and save a business money is actually through the Internet when deploying VoIP/SIP technology.

5. Customer Service Centers – Integrated solutions are a good way to merge both data and voice which is essential in many customer service environments today. The product associated with this is known as an integrated T1. This allows for simultaneous traffic from both PBX and Ethernet switches so calls may be taken while operators also access information from their computers to assist customers.

These T1 configurations are typical however businesses have other methods of deploying a T1 line. There are cases where T1 bandwidth is not enough. For larger capacity needs businesses deploy T3 lines or bonded T1 connections. Bonded T1 is more than one line connected through one circuit.
