When you have signed up for a new car insurance policy, and have read through all the fine print, you may not be aware of some of the other circumstances that could affect your policy. There are many things that could happen to your vehicle which may not be specifically detailed in your policy.

First of all, you need to think about what would happen if you locked your keys in your motor vehicle and did not have a spare key. If your insurance cover does not include locks and locksmith cover, then you would probably have to break the window. Because this would not necessarily be accidental, then your insurance company would most likely not pay out. If you do not have spare keys to your motor vehicle, then you need to consider whether or not you should take out locksmith insurance on your vehicle insurance policy. This means that your insurance house will pay to send out a locksmith to let you into your vehicle if you lock your keys in the car.

Some people may be worried about whether or not their insurance company will pay out if they have their car stolen in a dangerous part of town. If you have taken all the necessary precautions to ensure your car is protected, as you stated in your policy, then they will pay out. This means that if you have stated that your vehicle has an alarm system and an immobiliser, then as long as you had it activated at the time of the theft then you will be due a payout for your stolen vehicle.

There are some unfortunate cases where people have their vehicles damaged in a hit and run incident. If were lucky, the offender would leave a note with their contact details and insurance information on it, if not, then the repairs are completely up to you. If you have comprehensive cover, your insurance house will pay for the repairs to your vehicle. If you only have third party cover, then you will be responsible for the repairs of the damages to your vehicle. The same goes for if your vehicle is damaged in an aggressive attack, such as someone slashing your tires or scratching your vehicle with keys or another sharp object.

There have been occasions where members of the publics' vehicles have been damaged by angry strikers. When large mobs go on strike, or there is a protest march, they enjoy damaging and destroying any motor vehicles around them or in their path. If the march was politically related, then there is a national organisation that is responsible for the remuneration for repairs to any damages caused by the angry mob. If not, then you might just be responsible for the repairs to your vehicle. In future, if you hear of civil unrest, try and steer clear of the area.

Naturally, there are many different types of car insurance policies. Some will offer more cover than others, and you would have to read through the details of your policy thoroughly in order to determine what sort of coverage you are protected with.
