Once in a while, everyone desires to lie back and rest. Merely to snooze and take a break in sweet repose. Have a massage, get pleasure from one's day. The West Bohemian Spa Triangle is a wonderful location for the regeneration of your soul and body.

The long-subsided volcanic activity on the border of the Slavkov Forest was accompanied by the genesis of mineral springs that have made the region of West Bohemia recognized all-around the earth. Although Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad) , founded by the celebrated Czech ruler Charles 4, is the most outstanding spa city in the region, there are several further no less brilliant spa towns in the district that are extremely popular with both patients and tourists. Although the beneficial outcomes of the local springs had apparently become well-known in as early as the tenth century, spas did not actually blossom until much later on, in the 19th century. At the same time, Frantiskovy Lazne was founded at the very end of the eighteenth century, followed by the formation of Marienbad, as a result completing the "Spa Triangle". Domestic and foreign guests alike have been coming to enjoy the indigenous mineral springs for hundreds of years; the visitors' book of the spa resorts contain the names of monarchs such as the English ruler Edward VII, Napoleon III, prominent composers such as Fryderyk Chopin and Richard Wagner, writers such as Johann W. Goethe, Mark Twain and Franz Kafka, or for instance the honored Moravian-born originator of psychoanalysis Sigmund Freud. Although there is much more. You be able to also get pleasure from the rich cultural service, set off for biking, climbing and seeing the sights trips, play tennis and golf, ride a horse, explore water sports in summer season and cross-country skiing during winter.

Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad / Karlsbad)

Karlsbad is the best identified spa city situated in West Bohemia. It was founded about 1350 by the Holy Roman Emperor & King of Bohemia, Charles IV. Its magnificent roads & colonnades are surrounded by calm wooded hills crisscrossed by climbing and biking paths that are ideal for lovely walks all time round.
A full of activity cultural events calendar, numerous festivals and international conferences make Karlsbad the leading & liveliest spa town in the Czech Republic visited not only by the spa-guests but also celebs. Karlsbad achieved its fame also thanks to its well-known natural liqueur known as Becherovka (nicknamed "The 13th Spring"), Mattoni mineral water, unique spa wafers, and Moser crystal glass.
The curative mineral water from the springs in the valley of the Tepla River have been used by people from time immemorial - both for consuming as well as bathing.

Marianske Lazne (Marienbad)

The city of Marianske Lazne lies in a beautiful wide valley in West Bohemia, 628 meters above sea level. An roughly twenty km wide strip of forest with many mountaineering trails passes right throughout the spa town.
Marianske Lazne enjoys an first-rate popularity all over the world both for its treatment methods and valuable natural healing resources, as well as for its scenic, delightful surroundings. Almost 100 old springs have been discovered in and around the town, all with great concentration of CO2. Some had been revealed as early as in the sixteenth century.
A real jewel among the neighboring neoclassical buildings is the spa town colonnade designed in 1889. The spa area is dominated by the so-called 'Singing Fountain' entertaining the passers-by with music and illumination performances.
Marianske Lazne launched its first spa season in 1808, but rapidly grew to become a fashionable resort among Europe's elite. Among its clients had been English Ruler Edward VII., Polish composer and pianist Fryderyk Chopin and German bard Goethe.
The regional spas focus in treating musculoskeletal disorders, and diseases of the urinary tract, kidney and gynecological problems. The services are based on natural sources - cold ferrite acidulous water, natural gas, CO2 and mud.

Frantiskovy Lazne (Franzienbad)

Franzienbad (Frantiskovy Lazne), established in 1793, is a world acknowledged spa city located in the western corner of the Czech Republic. Thanks to its neoclassical spa buildings & pavilions the township preserved the exceptional atmosphere of the early 20th century and is regarded as one of the most charming spa cities in the country.
The area provides moderate local climate, fresh atmosphere and peaceful town life. Various parks around the city with its promenades & musicians are a ideal location for calming walks. All these reasons add to the remedial effects of the local mineral springs that every year attract numerous spa-guests.
