Christian Dior was born in France on January 21st, 1905, and was a gentleman known for his imagination. Coming from a family which dealt with processing chemicals along with fertilizers, he streamed right in the opposite direction but quite effectively making a name for himself within the fashion fraternity which conferred him a lot of accolades in support of his inventive way of dealing with clothes. He was a master of his trade leaving no loose ends to grumble about. Although his style was different from the typical, it was this uniqueness that gave him an impetus to make his creations viable on a global basis. He had brought with his designs a revolution in women's clothing once again making Paris as a centre of the fashion industry.
Christian Dior was an influential fashion designer and the originator of the Doir Empire. He attended the École des Sciences Politiques to fulfill his parent's requests. Though his family wished that he would become a diplomat, much to their astonishment their child was more fascinated in art rather than being a diplomat. To make money he used to trade his fashion sketches at 10 cents apiece. He opened a small art gallery in 1928 from the capital he received from his father. However due to the family's financial tragedy he was forced to shut his gallery and worked with Robert Piguet who afterward joined the fashion house where he and Pierre Balmain were the primary designers. In 1945 he went into business for himself, backed by Marcel Boussac, the cotton-fabric tycoon. He opened his own fashion house in 1946 and presented his opening collection by the name "Corolle" which popularly acquired the name New Look. Renowned for the sensual appearance given to his clothing, he was a master at making shapes and silhouettes. He died on October 23rd, 1957.
After his initial design, which had previously ensured his place in the international forum of fashion, his consequential creations also made a large effect on the ramp. The H-line in 1954 and the A-line in 1955 grew to become as fashionable as the first one and people began to look upto him as a designer of inspiration. The company expanded not only in terms of retail outlets but in addition ventured into further forums.
