I am going to be very honest with you. There are a lot of things about work at home based jobs that you probably do not know. There are lots of myths too. If you're new at this, let me tell you that there is no such thing as a top-secret ingredient to home based business success. There's just a lot you need to learn before you start to making money online from home jobs.

Let's start with the myths surrounding work from home jobs, or any making money online from home ideas for that matter. A lot of people still fall for these myths, which lead them to make mistakes they will regret for long periods of time. Do not be one of them.

MYTH 1: Managing Your Time Is Going To Be A Piece Of Cake-

Just because you are at home, it does not mean you can relax, procrastinate and pretend you do not need that digital desktop calendar your wife gave you for your anniversary. Let me tell you why this level of complacency is what is going to drive you nuts later on.

First of all, because you work in the comforts of your own home, you automatically get the idea that you are not working the same amount of time you would if you were working at the office. What comes out of this? You relax too much. You procrastinate. You take MORE breaks. Sound familiar already? Well, it is not too late.

Here's advice from someone who's been there. Treat your home job like you would a normal job. If you are allowed two 15-minute coffee breaks back at the office, limit yourself to two coffee breaks each day. Stick to your schedule. If you are working 8 hours, work through those 8 hours. Don't squeeze in your 2-hour bubble bath just because you can.

This is why it is always a good idea to have your own office at home. That way, you do not cross certain boundaries. As a result, you manage your time better.

MYTH 2: Working At Home Is Easy-

Again, it is not as easy as it looks. It is even more complicated than your old desk job back at The Company. It requires MORE EFFORT. Here are a couple of reasons why:

(1.) It requires better time management skills.

(2.) You can easily lose your focus. For instance, it is very easy to get turn your TV on to watch Argentina go against Brazil in the World Cup. Avoid these kinds of distractions and temptations.

(3.) Work at home jobs require more effort in terms of communication. Your "boss" is not going to be around to show you on his Divine Whiteboard the process flow for creating the new product.

See what I mean? Complacency breeds procrastination which leads to lags in productivity which leads to more effort on your part to keep up. Do not ever assume that working at home is a piece of cake.

But do you know what is good about working at home? You will learn to appreciate the value of time.

MYTH 3: You Do Not Need Any Training At All-

A lot of people who work at home think they do not need training. This is especially true among work from home based writers or freelance writers. Writing for the web is an evolving skill and to become a good writer you need to keep writing and keep learning. There are lots of cheap online writing classes and courses available which you can make use of to hone in on your writing skills. I am not saying you NEED to take those online courses before you start accepting home based writing jobs. What I mean is that, even if you have a stable income from writing jobs, it never hurts to spend part of your money to develop your skills.

What if I do not want to be a good writer? What if I am happy with just the way I write? Well, unless you are completely satisfied with how much you are getting paid, you should not even be asking yourself those. Good writers are paid more. If you have been writing short articles for companies, maybe it is time you learned about writing sales letters or even e-books. That opens up more horizons for you and it increases the size of your clientele.

My point is, there is no reason for you not to take your work at home based job seriously. Some people think that it is "ONLY" a home job. You should not feel the same way. To make money at home jobs, you need to change your attitude toward working from home first. It will help you succeed in the long run.
