There is a plethora of mattress options available for consumers in the market. Choosing the mattress that is right, can often be difficult and should be taken quite seriously. After all, purchasing a mattress is an investment in both health and mental soundness as those who lack proper sleep are not productive members of society. Quality memory foam mattresses can often be expensive and that may be an issue to consumers who aren't quite sure about the benefits.

Spring mattresses are an age-old product that has been used for decades as commodities of choice. As a standard, spring mattresses are usually purchased by individuals who have little knowledge about memory foam mattresses, therefore it is of utmost importance to review all available types and brands before committing to one specific mattress. Spring mattresses fail to offer the contouring specifications that memory mattresses deliver. They are often comfortable to sit or lay, but ultimately fail in providing the level of comfort a memory foam mattress deliver. Due to the presence of certain materials and foam over the springs, this results in what is known as the trampoline effect. When this occurs, the coils actually bend inwards when pressure is applied, and can cause a sagging or dipping effect many consumers have experienced. Over a period of time, the foam disengages and the spring coils become loose and shapeless. A memory foam mattress, however, retains its shape due to its visco-elasticity and specia
lly conforms to the human form to ensure an even distribution of weight and minimal constraints on the joints.

A competitor to the memory foam mattress is latex foam mattresses. Latex foam retains a much higher elastic capability making it much more springy than solid. Latex foam basically pushes back against the body when laying down, while memory foam mattresses act to support the body evenly and at different points. In addition, people who are allergic to latex should certainly avoid this type of mattress as it can cause irritation.

In some instances, consumers have chosen to use air mattresses while in search of the perfect mattress. This can be a wonderful choice to better evaluate the mattress market but should not be used as a long-term solution. Air mattresses offer very little support for the body and can break quite easily. A small puncture can leave the bed completely flattened and unusable. The amount of pressure put on joints and bones can make sleeping in an air mattress unbearable. This will only further the necessity of a memory foam mattress as an ideal choice as the support system is perfectly molded to the shape of the individual's body. Regardless of your size, memory foam mattresses are available to everyone. Just be sure to pick one that is conducive to your body type and lifestyle.

Memory foam mattresses are much more effective in providing a sound and restful sleep to consumers. Whether you suffer from back pain, weight problems, snoring, or pressure points, these mattresses ensure a higher quality of sleep that standard mattresses could never supply.
