· Keep up with your oil and remember to change the filters.
· Keep the chains lubricated.
· Check your brake fluids and pads.
· Check your tires often and keep them in tip-top shape. Tires are such an important factor for both cars and motorcycles. Caring for them will keep you under “great care.”
· Get used to how your new motorcycle feels loaded and not. Arrange your heavier bags to the base of anything you’re carrying on the bike. And, be sure to balance the weight.
· Check the weather outlook, especially if you’re traveling long distance on your motorcycle. Weather conditions can change drastically even over a course of 20 miles.
· Pack and dress in layers when you’re motorcycling. Those weather changes and pockets of “cold valleys” come fast when you’re riding and you’ll handle them better if you’re prepared for them. Remember, bring a towel!
· Prepare for winds. Be ready to protect yourself for wind gusts or windy conditions. Make sure you’re physically protected and be sure to take care of your bike, too.
Proper motorcycle care and maintenance will also make a difference in your riding experience. A well cared for motorcycle will provide you great joy and utility! Make sure you protect it when it’s parked. Leaves and dust can rest in the chain and wheel base. Heat can make the seat unbearable and wear down “the newness” of your new motorcycle.
