We're using vacuum sweepers as an example, but this idea can apply to lots of types of product.
Local dealers virtually always recommend purchasing from local small businesses. As expected, this is in their self interest. But there really are advantages to purchasing from local small businesses.
You can ordinarily save a few dollars purchasing online. This early savings results in being less attractive once you consider buying from local merchants from someone you can actually talk to.

Here are some advantages to shopping locally;
1) You can see what you are buying and are going to be able to decide if it's actually what you needed.
2) You can customarily try what you purchase, or at the very least see it presented in some way.
3) You can ask specific questions that you would not be concerned about if the product were not in front of you.
4) If you require service, the local supplier is far more likely to provide you with exceptional service, than would be an internet supplier who has never met you.
5) You may go to the local seller if you have questions, and ask questions with the product before you as a point of reference.
6) There is no telephone tag when you visit a local supplier.
7) There are no shipping expenses or distribution delays.
Most local store proprietors (and a suitably educated personnel) are very conversant about their product categories. They are not simply faceless web based order takers.

Moreover the best benefit you have in dealing with a local supplier is that they can show you the best solution for your situation. This may save you a little money, or it may cost you a little more. But the product you get will be the one that fits your requirements. You are not only shopping from a clerk. You are receiving instruction from a trusted advisor.

Plus, there are dangers buying via the internet that you won't have when purchasing from a local small business. Your local store owner is easy to find. Your internet dealer may not be a dealer at all. The product you buy may be a "scratch & dent" product obtained for pennies on the dollar, by the hawker, to be resold for a slight savings to you. The on line dealer may actually not have a real brick and mortar business whatsoever. They may possibly be taking orders out of a temporary office, or out of a PO Box, and a cell phone. You simply can't be sure.

You are also far less prone to be treated wrongly by a local retailer. Word will get around quickly when news is spread from local retail store owners. Local small business owners can not afford the bad reviews. Just one bad point-of-view read in the local paper could destroy a local retail store. Local stores have more invested in keeping you pleased.

Moreover, let us not forget. This works both ways. It may just be to your benefit to do your shopping from local merchants. But it can be also to your benefit to shop locally if you yourself own a local retail store. Every community keeps money in
flow by buying from each other.

Cheery purchases.
