It is usual to see a pet attempting to operate a faucet just to get water to drink. Though this may be an excellent entry for Planet’s Funniest Animals, it only underscores the fact that many pet owners take drinking water for granted. Most owners simply leave a bowl and fill it with water. What happens when the bowl gets empty? Well, that’s when we see antics such as turning the faucet on. A solution is to get a pet fountain that will take care of supplying the water for your pet. There’s no need for your pet to drink from the toilet bowl or the unsafe puddle on the road.

Why the Need for Water?

Just like humans, your cat or dog will need a constant stream of water to replenish themselves after doing playing around in your yard. Some pets are even more active than their owners and would require a greater mount of water to keep them properly hydrated. Their bodily functions require water like we do, and they get certain minerals from the water that they drink. Moreover, take note that the furs of cats and dogs prevent them cooling like we humans do. Hence, they would need more water to keep their temperatures in check.

Gravity Pet Fountains

For those that do not need the sophistication, you can snatch a simple gravity pet fountain. As the name implies, it used the natural downward flow of water and simple pressure to control the amount of water that stays in the bowl. The supply of water, though, needs to be slow; sometimes it will only drip from the reservoir. This is necessary in order to prevent an overflow of the water.

Electricity Powered

Those with additional money to spend can acquire an electricity powered pet fountain for better water control. The water in the bowl is constantly monitored, and water is automatically refilled from the reservoir when the level becomes very low. Due to electric valves and sensors, there is no need to build vertically tall fountains. In fact, electric powered pet fountains are designed elegantly with the tank physically attached and the water sliding gracefully down the bowl. Part of the tank is also transparent to alert the owner about the need to refill.

Water Filtration

Though most likely that the water tanks will be filled with bottled water, most pet fountains do not leave anything to chance and include a filter to prevent impurities from passing through. The targets of the filters are unseen debris that failed to be trapped by the water system, ensuring that your pets will have the best tasting and cleanest water they will ever taste.

Oxygen Infused

Do you have a water cooler at home? Does it oxygenate the water in the reservoir? Some pet fountains do, making your pet possibly drink in a cooler fashion than you. These pet fountains have air valves that inject air bubbles into the water, making it healthier. It also reduces the possibility of bacteria building up in the tank. This becomes the ultimate way for your pet to get healthy water.
