I am sure you have noticed, this handset is boxed with a surprisingly deprived accessory pack. It is part of its manufacturer's eco-friendly strategy to ship these cell phones without a user guide/manuals or software CDs, all significant software comes preloaded on the device already.
Design:
This handset is a candy bar device, yet it is not just “ordinary”, the curvature design of the back is quite offbeat and fine looking. This handset does not grip attention of its on-lookers, even though it truly does offer a breath fresh air at the market place of mainstream featured phones. Its body made almost entirely from a recycled plastic that provide secure grip and does not feel cheap, the rear panel is partially anodized aluminum. This is relatively effortless to remove then reveal its microSD expansion slot and battery above it. The rear panel has a profile that follow dainty curve, whilst the elongated shape makes it both appealing and ergonomic. Overall, the Sony Ericsson Elm feature proper build qualities, good feeling material and is quite an elegant mainstream device. It is refreshingly different,
The Sony Ericsson Elm integrates 2.2-inch TFT screen and QVGA 240x320 pixels resolutions delivering reasonably crisp images, though colors where not saturated enough. Display remains very usable into direct sunlight. This handset comes equipped with Sony Ericsson´s own port, that is located at the left side, whilst the camera shutter and volume rocker are at the right.

Interface and Functionality:
The Sony Ericsson Elm, a feature phone that runs the manufacturers, Flash UI interface for non-smart device without a touch-screen. It has four preload themes it changes the complete look of screens and menus.
The Sony Ericsson Elm has standard organizer it comes with a standard messaging function with the text visualizing in the threaded style. The client handles the multiple accounts, and recognizes main email provider’s that sets up everything automatically. Typing on its rubberized alphanumeric keypad is fast and comfortable enough.
The Sony Ericsson Elm equipped with the Access Netfront browser you can watch YouTube videos but that is pretty what you get in streaming video. The Wi-Fi and 3G functionality loads pages quickly and the navigation smooth overall.
It also comes with radio and RDS, even if the function does fail to recognize a channel at times. Its TrackID audio recognition services based on the Gracenote Mobile MusicID is capable.
Its loudspeaker is average. It is not exceptionally loud or quiet and the sound produced overly sharp.
The Sony Ericsson Elm features Video Player its application support camera videos and YouTube content that is about it though. Just H.264 videos on MP4 container recognized then played only if their resolutions do not exceed 320x144 pixels
The Sony Ericsson Elm sports a 5-megapixel camera, auto focus and flash. Camera interface features are relatively rich in options. Quality off its snapshots shot outdoors and within proper light condition is good has enough details and colors are properly saturated colors. The qualities of those indoor snapshots are also good. Video capture capability is decent also with resolution 640x480 pixels, on 30 frames a second.
Unfortunately, there is just one Java-based game on the Elm.

Performance:
The Sony Ericsson Elm is good at calls. Its in-call quality excellent on either ends of the call without any major complaints. The caller sounded clear, realistic and loud rating the quality also good. The device come with Noise Shield, this option filters environmental sounds that around you. All said, this device delivers superior in-call quality.
The battery o the handset is robust provides about 10 hours continuous call time over EDGE/GPRS and the device remains operational about 18 days on stand-by. The Sony Ericsson Elm offers many various options. It is a snappy, likeable handset with good interior functionality; this includes grand audio playback and in-call quality, competent camera and remarkable software set. There are shortcomings such as its poor videos playback support, incompetent web browser, trial navigation software also meager accessory pack does not have USB cable or a 3.5mm converter. This device comes with a god price tag.
Ultimately, Sony Ericsson Elm is a pleasant cell phone has great mainstream functions and eco-friendly feature phone.
