If you are doing your own search engine optimization to improve your website's ranking on search engines, you are probably well aware of the fact that it is quite an involved process. SEO is much like trying out a new recipe - if you do not use all the different ingredients, you might end up with a disaster in the kitchen. Therefore it is vitally important to make sure that you have all your SEO ingredients ready before expecting amazing results on the Internet. And as with good food, search engine optimization takes time, do not expect miracles within the first week!
Article writing forms the foundation of all search engine optimization campaigns. If you want to submit content to article directories, you need an article… If you want to share your opinion on blogging networks, you need an article… If you want to add interesting information to your website… Yes, once again, this will be in the form of an article!
So how do you write a high quality article?
First and foremost, pay attention to spelling, punctuation and standard grammar rules. Your articles should be professional and interesting to read, and internet users will not have a lot of faith in an article which looks like it's been written by a 5th grader. Plan your articles carefully before starting, so that you have a clear idea of what content should go where.
When we think of search engine optimization, we immediately think keyword, keyword, keyword! Why not start thinking key phrase? A lot of search phrases are used in internet searches. For example, if I want to buy a television online, I will not search for television, but rather for something more specific like "32 inch flatscreen tv". That way I know my search results will be more relevant to what I am specifically looking for. These key phrases or search phrases are also known as longtail keywords and should not only be used when you're writing articles, but also as part of the content on your website.
Search engines will not necessarily index your whole article. They tend to make a decision based on the first few words that "make sense"; therefore it's important that your article has a striking headline and a keyword rich first (introductory) sentence. The introductory sentence should be short, but powerful. Some article directories have very strict guidelines - if you are allowed one sentence, do not write a complete paragraph, as this might result in your article not being published.
A 3% keyword density is a good average to work from. This means 3 keywords or keyword phrases should be included in your article for every 100 words.
Remember with all things in life, practice makes perfect! By keeping the above in mind, nothing is stopping you from becoming a great article writer! Your website is a very important marketing tool for your company or business; therefore it is important to apply efficient search engine optimization techniques to achieve optimum results.
Happy writing!
