Cops found a 3 year old and 5 year old boy and girl roaming the streets. The cops immediately began a search for the kids parents. After checking some sources they found out that the kids lived nearly two miles away! Apparently their mother was passed out drunk at the wheel of her idling minivan.
The drunken mother stated that she was on her way to pick up her older children. The kids abandoned at school walked to a nearby relatives house. Scared that something had happen to their mother they called the cops. Around that time a kind Samaritan found the two young kids wandering the streets and about to run out in front of busy traffic. When asked about why they were all alone they said that they were looking for their siblings.
Back to the mother, obviously drunk denies completely the allegations of her DUI, and refuses to take a sobriety test. For the most case all you have to do to get a DUI is be in operation of a vehicle while under the influence you do not need to be driving and this was the mothers case. She was arrested and taken downtown.
The mother will regret this DUI, her only drinking offense and no prior history of criminal activity not even a parking ticket. She was convicted of both child neglect and DUI. The judge ordered her to attend AA meetings, suspended license, and she was not aloud to drive her children. The judge stated that she was a loaded gun around her children and the general public. He personally called child services to make sure that the children were in no further danger.
What this mother did may be wrong and inexcusable, but she didn't deserve to have her kids taken. You may be facing a DUI situation.
