Time management continues to be a problem to a lot of individuals, including myself.

As I examine materials on time management, most gurus counsel tips after tips. I accept that those advice may have performed well for them but I don't think many of them will be effective for me. Since everyone is unique with our own sets of persona, aptitude, experiences and present personal condition, it only follows that a program which may be effective for a particular expert may not function well for you.

The key is not to give up, but instead lies in managing the challenge. This we can do by owning up to the reality that our needs as business owners in our specific niche, in our location, within our industry, are unique. Even our competitors can't ape us for the reason that we are extraordinary in desiring to create a new enterprise in the specific way that WE like to do it.

We need a time management system that is personalized for us - not only for the next few months, but for years to come - preferably something that can build and help us alter our habits as our business expands. I know this very well, as I am also an business owner.

So rather than blindly following their suggestions, I think it's much wiser to comprehend the fundamental principles in time management and develop the system that will function well for you.

It's tempting to say that excellent time management is a consequence of having a great time management system. But I have not found this to be the case. I think the universal mindset of time management is far more important than any system. And the mindset of time management is purely that you value your time. It's really a self-esteem concern. If you recognize your life as valuable and meaningful, then you will cherish your time as well. If you find yourself wasting a lot of time, you maybe don't have a strong enough basis to manage your time well. No program you utilize will make much difference until you address the essential issue of self-respect. If your life has no meaningful purpose, then you don't have a gripping enough motive to improve your time management skills. You might get motivated every once in a while, but your motivation to improve just won't last.
