Identifying the primary signs of diabetes can help you avoid complications with the disease. Unfortunately, a lot of the signs of diabetes that present themselves outside of the body are also signs of other disorders.

This can cause a lot of misdiagnoses before correctly identifying it and a course of action is chosen upon. Still, being able to identify the major symptoms of this disease can save you a lot of time. When you observe one of the symptoms mentioned in this article, contact your physician and ask to be tested.

The most distinctive indicator of both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes is that the body no longer produces insulin the way it usually does. However, this is not as obvious as, say, the indicators of the common flu. Generally, is only noticed when you meet with your doctor for another matter. The lower amount of insulin is discovered when blood testing is done or when you have your organs tested. Type 1, which typically gets diagnosed when a person is fairly young is often times observed when a medical physician is trying to diagnose a common virus. Do you find yourself getting irritable without any environmental factors helping you out? If what you're experiencing is more than a normal bad mood, then it could be issues with your blood sugar levels. It is important to get checked for diabetes if your blood sugar levels are not stable. The body stops processing food correctly when you become diabetic which can lead to irritability. So if there is no other reason for your mood swings, you should get tested for diabetes and hypoglycemia.

Feet problems are a common problem for most diabetics. Poor circulation is usually the reason for these problems. If you notice that your feet (and/or hands) have started tingling you should call your doctor. Circulation issues make it very important for diabetics to be watchful over their hands and feet. Your doctor should be informed of any sores on your feet that aren't healing as soon as possible. For most, the sores can be treated right in the doctor's office. But it is important not to let sores and tingling go unchecked. If you ignore these symptoms you raise the odds of needing an amputation.

Diabetes is very difficult to diagnose. This is because many of the symptoms mimic symptoms of other disorders as well. The most direct symptoms can only be found after extensive testing. Still, there are physical warnings and diabetic signs that you should be keeping an eye out for. Diabetes is not an illness to be taken lightly, particularly if it isn't treated right. Proper treatment depends on real diagnoses. So, if you notice that your body is out of whack, you should call your doctor. What you believe to be a cold could turn out to be diabetes.
