When you're in the market for a new job, you will definitely need to get some resume writing advice, and remember, there's no such thing as too much advice. Obtaining the jobs you want might not be entirely easy, but there are ways to ensure that the whole process is a little easier. There are some things that you will need to get in order, and these are the things that employers are most likely to pay mind to during the interview process.

It's hard to actually put a value on the resume, and that's why you will have to ensure that it's set up properly. A few changes may need to be made in order to aid you in getting the job that you want. There are six steps written here which will aid you in landing that dream job with relative ease.

1. Tone it Down - Make sure that when you write your resume you don't go overboard with the colors and themes. Yes, you can use a few design elements to make your resume stand out, but the most important thing that you can do is make your resume appear professional and easy to read.

2. Focus On What You've Done - It may be tempting to talk about your job responsibilities, but instead you should talk about what you've accomplished in the past. Make sure you keep track of what you've done and that you write it down. There are many accomplishments that are worth mentioning and you will no doubt know what they are when the time comes.

3. Honesty is the Best Policy - This is more than likely the most important thing you will ever hear, even if it sounds a little silly. While you might have been told to embellish your resume a little, don't do it! The smallest lies can come back to bite you before you know it, so be careful.

4. Keep it Brief - Writing your life story and sending it along to an employer isn't going to impress him or her. In fact, a resume that drags on for too long might get thrown in the trash bin. Keep your resume short, and focus on bulleted lists and essential details rather than every bit of information you can remember.

5. Highlight Growth - Listing all of the ways that you've managed to grow and improve can help quite a bit believe it or not. Demonstrate the way in in which you have managed to grow in recent years. Have you changed? Improved? Find a way to put it into words and show the world how you've become better.

6. Customization - Don't hand out a generic resume. Make sure the resume you use is unique to the job you are using it for. By doing this you will show the employer that you care and actually want the job, and that you have the right skills for that job.

Micromanage every single detail. You don't want to leave anything to chance that you don't have to. So make sure that you build a good resume and make it look good. Eventually you will succeed so long as you take all the resume writing advice you can get.
