Long gone are the times where a few stuffed animals, a few dolls or some trucks and a set of blocks would be the basic toys a kid would have in their room. Nowadays the common kid's space will have this stuff and at least two or three electronic toys whether they be for play solely or for instructional play.
These days, toys aren't just for fun. There's a growing emphasis on starting children to be told simply some months once they are born. A doll was once something simple and cute for a child to hold. Currently, dolls can talk, eat and go to the bathroom. Teddy bears was simply a cuddly friend. Currently some teddy bears have become teaches. For many years, educational toys meant blocks, beads, puzzles, and balls.
