The amount of American history that you can experience in a single trip to Washington D.C is staggering! Besides being close to all the monuments, you have the opportunity to stay the night in the same hotel as Martin Luther King Jr. did before he gave his famous "I Have a Dream Speech," then walk from your room to the Washington Monument the next morning!

If you want a great hotel that will keep you near such popular attractions as the Smithsonian, the Washington Monument, and the Library of Congress, book any hotel in D.C.! Some particularly great hotels are the Willard Intercontinental of the Hay-Adams, which offer beautiful views of the White House, and the Downtown and Capitol Hill hotels, which are near the National Mall. All of these beautiful hotels are the same as those booked by leaders and diplomats visiting the U.S., and are close to all the attractions in the city.

For those who want to experience D.C.'s great night life, book a hotel in the Dupont Circle. Or, if you'd rather be a little farther from the downtown area, you can get a room in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, which is near to the Jefferson Memorial.

But even to stay in Washington D.C., there no need to break the bank: although there are certainly some beautiful hotels throughout the city, there are also other hotels and motels in the city that are more budget-friendly. A majority of these hotels are on Connecticut Avenue, and are very close to the National Zoo and the National Cathedral. Also, these hotels are very close to shopping and dining options.

Don't forget to think carefully about parking while you decide on a hotel. Downtown hotels are more expensive, but accommodations outside the downtown area, will mean driving into the city, where you may spent quite a bit of money to park. Although a bit more expensive, consider choosing a hotel that's close to the sites you're most interested in, so that you can avoid the expense and stress of parking.

In most cities, visiting in the off-season is a great way to save money. However, Washington D.C. doesn't have a regular off-season, and though it's slightly busier in the summer, you'll find that hotel prices are the same year-round. Instead, save money on your trip by finding package deals or online discounts that will apply when you book your trip.
