Helping the 2 million plus annual entrants into the job industry in Kenya who believe there are no jobs in Kenya is a service with ridiculously low entry requirements. You only need two things; a basic understanding of how a CV is written and a good mouth.

Any industry or human activity that has low entry level requirements is great breeding ground for fraudsters. For that reason, your understanding of the principles that govern that area is what helps you identify the fraudsters and recognise the genuine service providers.

Examples of low entry requirement industries in Kenya

Examples of areas that are open to fraud and abuse in Kenya abound. Let me point out a few so that you can see what we mean by low entry requirements.

Low entry requirements is the reason there are so many irresponsible parents around. You only need to be born with the right anatomical equipment. And then after owning it for a minimum of fifteen years, in partnership with another, put it to use with little thought beyond immediate pleasure and viola! Male or female, you are now a parent! Easy, isn't it?

Low entry requirements give opportunity to conmen galore lounging in church pews. It doesn't take much to fit in and be accepted in a church environment. All you need to do is go to a church, especially a Pentecostal one, learn the lingua (Praise God my sister, my brother) and befriend the leadership (Pastor God bless you for all the wonderful things you are doing in our midst). In those easy steps you are 'our brother in the Lord' and can easily execute plan 'b' and con members.

We are now required by law to register our mobile phones to curb rising abuse of the mobile phone. Why? Getting a line only takes stopping any one hawker on a busy street.

The internet too gives very good landing for fraudsters. With a machine connected to the internet and the ability to read you can send out emails and set up websites and do all sorts of fabulous illegalities.

Easy entry requirements do not make a thing evil

Easy entry requirements do not make something good or bad. That a system is open to abuse does not automatically make it evil.

There is little that is nobler than responsible parenting. That numerous parents are abusing the natural honour placed on parents does not make becoming a parent wrong.

There certainly is a lot of good that can come out of genuine participation in the whole practice of Christianity. That there are fraudsters in churches does not make the practice of Christianity bad, evil or wrong.

It is impossible to say how many lives have been saved, how much good money has been made, and how many destinies have been positively turned around all on account of the presence of the little gadget called the mobile phone in Kenya.

It is not a point of argument that tremendous good has come through the internet. One that I personally value highly is the ability to interact with great minds from the comfort of my home. Ten years ago, if I wanted to interact with the same great minds I would have needed to be a multi-millionaire first, and then travel to where they are.

Today, with a few choice words on a search engine, I can find a great book, and with even fewer clicks have it in my possession within 48 hours or less. Most of these are books that I would never have gotten on our bookshelves in years. Through the internet I am able to maximise my potential through right information. The internet is a source of immense power if you know what you want from it.

In that same light, there are thousands of honest service providers congregated around the search for jobs in Kenya. That there are fraudsters too does not make all jobs search service providers evil.

So when looking for jobs in Kenya how do you protect yourself?

What do you need to understand about finding jobs to protect yourself?

First you need to understand that all fraudsters thrive on your personal ignorance levels. What you do not know helps a fraudulent service provider to execute his plan.

To avoid being conned, choose to increase on your understanding of how the jobs industry works. Make it your business to be familiar with the way things that are of value to you work. The best place to get such information is from FREE articles. I am yet to meet a person who will provide FREE illegal information. The chances of getting caught that way are too high.

Secondly, learn to assess whatever offer you are being given in light of other important factors to judge its authenticity and efficiency.

If for instance a job agency is promising to help you find jobs in Kenya and there are hundreds of seekers milling around their corridors, where pray are they finding that many employers who will employ you if the country as a whole only provides 50,000 new jobs annually?

If there are jobs posted on the internet where everyone can read them, in a country with over 2million new entrants annually, what does that do to your chances of getting those jobs?

I do not suggest that all jobs sites advertising jobs in Kenya are fraudulent; there are some pretty great ones there. However, if what you want is a job, why crowd in an arena that gives you a-one-in-millions chance?
