Making money blogging really isn't all that difficult, but it will take some concerted effort on your part, and it probably won't happen overnight either!
If just starting out, I would suggest getting your feet wet with a Blogger blog. They are free, very easy to set-up and run, and being owned by Google are easy to monetize as well.
A hosted Wordpress.org blog is widely felt to be the best way to gain respect and credibility for your blogging, but if the $10.00 or so a month is beyond your reach one of the free blogging platforms is the way to go.
Regardless of which platform you decide to use, the best way to start (I think) is to choose a niche (the subject of your blog) that you have some interest in, or better yet are passionate about. This will make writing content (the hardest part for me) for your new blog much easier. Think about it, if you know your subject matter well you don't have to do much research (if any), you will be able to just write, and that my friend will make your blogging sooo much easier!
You also should keep in mind right from the start how you will monetize your blog. Get into your visitors heads and figure out what they want or need, then your job (as an Internet Marketer) is to supply that want or need (for a price of course!) This is how you will turn your little blog into a money making machine!
There are more than a few ways to make money online, but I feel running a successful blog to be one of the best. Why? Because it gets you writing a lot of content (which you need to get good at) and gets your name out there (as an expert in your niche hopefully!)
Choose a niche you have a passion for and your visitors will see this and those that share your passion will become regulars at your blog-part of your online community. Then you work within this community to build relationships, perhaps partnerships, or joint venture opportunities, or at least sell them that "thing" they want and/or need.
Try to enjoy your time online, don't get obsessive about it, just keep plugging away at it and in time success will come. Think about starting several blogs in different niches, so all your eggs are not in one basket. Who knows this could very well be the start of something big!
