Many people love skiing, it is one of the most exciting and adventurous things to do outdoors. However, they usually get bored of the slopes because the area is catered more to a ski resort than for those who are adventurous. That is why Heli-Skiing has become very popular. Heli-Skiing, or Heli-Ski as it is sometimes called is when you get on an actual helicopter and are flown to a remote location that allows you to ski in a more scenic area. You can sometimes reach these areas by hiking, but that creates a new problem. Hiking that distance would create some serious problems unless you have the proper gear. Once you reach those heights you would have to leave the gear or ski with it on your person. Either way it is not fun and can be very annoying. By Helicopter Skiing, you can easy get to the area you want and not have to worry about hiking gear and what to do with it. You also have more energy for skiing because you are not hiking up a mountain for miles and miles.

Skiers love skiing in remote areas because they offer longer descents, beautiful natural terrain, and an environment that can not be duplicated by resorts and man made paths. Helicopter Skiing is the only way to visit these area, a ski lift will not work. Another advantage to Heli-Skiing is that you are able to spend less time getting to the location, and you can focus more on the actual act. Traveling by helicopter will give you a great view of the terrain, an idea of how to handle the drops, maneuver around trees, and get the most excitement out of the experience. Most experts agree that once you have gone through the experience of Helicopter Skiing, you will not want to ski from a resort path again. The adventure, excitement, and experience are not the same.

This way of skiing is actually safer as well. Even though the terrain is a bit more dangerous, only experienced skiers are allowed to ski, and there is less of a crowd. Skiing from a resort comes with a higher amount of traffic, many of those people have little to no experience on skis so you have to watch out for them at all times. People would argue that the more dangerous terrain would lead for more dangerous skiing, but it is actually the opposite. The terrain will not change, but having to be on the lookout for inexperienced skiers is something you always have to do.
