Are you involved in internet marketing business? Are you selling and promoting your products and services using internet marketing? Are you expanding your business and reaching world wide customers using the Internet?
If you answer yes to one of the abovementioned questions, you have come to the right place because in this article I am going to share with you a free but very powerful traffic generation technique called SEO.
We all know that to succeed in internet marketing, we need to know how to generate targeted traffic. You want targeted traffic because you are looking for targeted customers or those who are interested in your products or services.
If you have a business website, you don't want to attract every "Tom and Jerry" to your website, that will be a waste of time and effort. You want to be focused and attacting only those who want to buy your products or services.
Does this make sense to you? I hope it does.
But, what is SEO?
Well, SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. Basically, it is a process of optimizing your most important web pages so that it will appear on the first page of the search engine's result page when users are typing some keywords that are related to your products and services.
For instance, if you are selling "cars alarms and security devices", you want your website to be seen by users when they are looking for car's alarms and security products or services. You also want to target a specific product name such as "Clifford alarm and security systems".
SEO is a free traffic generation technique - meaning that you don't have to pay to get the traffic as opposed to some of the paid traffic generation methods like pay-per-click advertising, banner advertising and classified advertisements.
So how do you optimize your website through SEO?
The first step to search engine optimization is to select your targeted keywords. For example, if you are selling car alarm systems, some of your targeted keywords could be: "cheap car alarm systems", "gsm car alarm systems", "car alarm systems installation", "clifford car alarm systems", etc.
Note: To identify your targeted keywords that are related to your niches, you can use the Google's Keyword Research Tool. This tool is free to use but it is a very powerful keyword research tool.
The next step to optimizing your website using targeted keywords is to check the competition. Meaning that you want to check how many sites out there are also targeting the same keywords that you are targeting. You want to know how easy or difficult it is to optimize a particular keyword so that your web page can rank on the first page.
Some keywords are just too competitive and it is extremely difficult for you to rank them. Again, you can usr keyword research tool to help you analyze your competitors.
Next, you want to make sure that your website has a simple structure that users can easily navigate and read the content. Don't make your website too complicated. Even when you want to have animations and graphics, try to limit them. A hard to navigate site will be a nuisance to the visitors. Plus, it will take a lot of time to get loaded.
The final step of optimizing your website is to syndicate your content and get quality backlinks. You can sysndicate your content by submitting your articles to high-ranking sites like Ezinearticles.com, Hubpages.com, Gather.com, Zimbio.com, etc. These sites have millions of visitors, they can help direct some of the traffic to your site.
Make sure you place a link back to your website in each of the article that you syndicate. This will help you get quality backlinks and boost your site ranking.
