Thanks to a lady artist's great talent, many a family pet will be immortalized on the mantel. For every person who has a pet be it a pony, dog, cat or even white rat, he will think that it is the loveliest and smartest pet in the world, and she agrees to such. Pets have to be coaxed so much by their loving masters before they come to the camera and permit their likeness to be plastered on the mantelpiece. But then Scottie's ear would droop while Samantha would yawn and this is what the camera captures. Little blue boy's foot was cut off while Willy got eaten by shadows. What was intended to be a pet's photographic remembrance became an unexpected flop.

The lady remedies such a quandary by creating a portrait of the beloved little pet while he reflects his special personality in a photo. Using a photograph to work from is a common practice among today's illustrators. Picture troubles such as fuzziness, off centered subjects or badly lit subjects can still be troubleshot by a great artist. She said, animals are fun to paint but the challenge is in people.

She is focused on capturing the subject's spirit. A mixture of emotions like happy, sad or whatever can be seen if one stands back and judges her work. She is satisfied with the portrait. Human being snapshots, much like ones of pets leave much to be wanted from composition and lighting while very little of the person's personality would shine through. Many occasions, we even encounter problems that bar the snapshot to be blown up and be displayed upon a wall. The portrait artist comes in right here. From her own close up pictures, she is able to achieve portraits that are intimate, warm and even personable.

If a need arises, she is able to enhance tone and color, thanks to her creative edge. She manages to develop and improve details but she sticks to reality. When doing a portrait for a customer she works in the medium they request. She used pen, ink and watercolor to create the sheriff's picture, for example. Most of the artworks she's done uses such a procedure.

The portrait actually has shadings made of tiny little dots in the material. There are 100,000 dots in the sheriff portrait. She showed how the effect was created, by way of a rapidograph pen. Being very essential to detail, this pen can truly help as it can be moved in every direction while drawing lines and the best part is that it does not splatter easily like old ink in drawing pens. It is quite smooth and easy to handle.

A real artist is one who has mastered his signature style. It is not hard to see that this lady goes for definite realism in her works. From her school day passion for horses as subject, it has developed to the passion she has now with portraits. While exhibiting in art shows and fairs, she learned so much.

The college library, a private collection or perhaps a Legion Hall would showcase her work so inquiries would start to come in. And this is precisely how the Midwest got to learn about her talent. She has always loved people and pet portraits and these has given her satisfaction more than what nude oil paintings and commercial works can ever give her.
