Many people will suffer from anxiety at some point or another in their lives. This modern life can be very stressful, and you can easily succumb to the common stresses that we find ourselves afflicted with. It is important that you can identify when you are suffering from anxiety so that you are able to deal with it properly before it becomes a long term problem.

In order to do this you should be able to identify the signs and symptoms of anxiety, which will help you on the road to overcoming anxiety. Among the first two signs you could have that can be related to anxiety is sleep problems and changes in eating patterns. Firstly, you might find that you are having a lot more difficulty sleeping. Perhaps you are discovering that you wake many times during the evening and are unable to fall asleep again. Maybe you have a multitude of thoughts running through your head which keep you awake; worries and stresses that you cannot mentally escape from. On the opposite end of the scale, some people find that they are sleeping more and more, and are struggling with exhaustion throughout the day. These changes in sleep patterns could definitely mean that you are suffering from anxiety, especially if it is troubling thoughts that are interrupting your sleep.

The next thing you should consider is your eating patterns. If you find that you are eating a lot more than usual, then you should probably be considering overcoming anxiety. Eating more can be a coping mechanism. Perhaps you find that you can numb unpleasant worries and niggles by eating comfort food. In a lot of anxiety cases, people could find that they are unable to eat, and have lost their appetite. Maybe you have now found that you are simply not enthusiastic about eating at all! This could be an extremely strong warning sign towards anxiety. This usually comes about because the anxiety causes knots and discomfort in your stomach and leaves you with no appetite. Whether you experience an increase in appetite, or a decrease, you will undoubtedly have fluctuations in your weight.

Another common sign of anxiety are nervous actions, including biting your nails or grinding your jaw. Should you find that you are biting your fingernails a lot, or fiddling with your hands or hair, then you are probably grappling with some anxiety. Jaw grinding is also a common sign of anxiety. Clenching your jaw and grinding your teeth can lead to a painful jaw, and is caused by an increase of adrenalin in the body which leads you to grind.

Overall, you should be able to recognise that you're not feeling yourself, and are overcome with thoughts of worries and stress. There are some steps you can take to overcoming anxiety, and the best thing you can do is to seek professional help, and other relaxation techniques. Feeling lost is one of the most typical outcomes of having anxiety, as you will likely feel like you are unsure about how to approach it.
