More and more people are turning towards PEX pipes for their domestic use. This is because the novel product has proved to be cost effective as it saves time in installation and reduces the energy bill. These are reasons good enough for anyone to give it a try.
There are a multitude of reasons for it to gain the favor of many. It is non corrosive and highly flexible pipe and there is no problem of scaling as in copper pipes. Long exposure to chlorine does not affect the pipe. It is a light weight product, easy to handle and costs less to transport. There is no requirement of joining pipes to get the right length as it is a spool and pipe of any length can just be drawn out of it. While laying pipes in the floor of radiant heating system continuous PEX pipe can be used. The flexibility of the pipes allows them to bend without breaking. It can be taken over obstacles without having to cut the pipe or attach an elbow to turn around. None of the hard pipes have such a facility.
Few fittings are required to fix PEX pipes because of which the plumbing costs are brought down by a great extent. The time take for installations is less and so are the plumbing bills. The possibility for leakages has been reduced so there would be lesser occasions for repairs and replacements. The two words repair and replacement are frightening as it means spending money apart from the inconvenience it would cause.
There can be nothing more pleasing to hear than lesser electricity bill and it is possible by using the PEX pipes for the floor heating system. The pipe can endure high and low temperature without bursting or breaking. The pipe conserves heat of the water running through the pipes in the floor, so the water boiler need not run for longer periods to maintain continuous supply of hot water. With so many advantages it would be a better choice for domestic use.
