An ideal electrical tool kit must keep all the electrical testing tools in tact. Absence of even a single testing tool may prove costly for you at the time of an emergency.

Testing tools such as GFCI receptacles, voltage testers, AC line splitters, circuit breaker identifiers etc. play a pivotal role in rendering your home a safe electrical framework.

One of them is an electrical voltage tester. It checks an electrical setup for its input voltage and current. It concludes whether an electrical circuit possesses current or not.

Most commonly available voltage tester is a two-wire tester that consists of a neon bulb at it's rear. To notify whether a circuit is passing current or not, just insert the leads or metal probes of the device into the concerned plug. Keep in mind that the red wire is inserted into the positive terminal and the black one into the negative terminal. As soon as a glow in the neon bulb is noticed, the presence of current is confirmed. In case the neon bulb doesn't illuminate then the electricity-deprived state of the circuit is indicated.

The plug testers that appear like the typical electrical plugs are another popular type of voltage testers. Their simple apparatus and ease of use puts them in the top slot of the testing tools. It is simply plugged into a particular socket and the current state is determined immediately by the illumination of the bulb.

One more voltage tester that is widely used nowadays is the pen voltage tester. It appears like a pen and determines whether the current is passing through a particular socket or not by just inserting the front of the pen into the plug. A glowing bulb indicates the current in the circuit.

Hence the voltage testers are quite significant as they are the preliminary testing tools that are utilized in an electrical project. They help you with determining whether an outlet is deprived of electricity or not. If yes then the next course of action is adopted.

Any other concern regarding the voltage testers can be discussed with an expert as he would guide you with the proper utilization of all the testing tools including the voltage tester.
