The portable heaters that are offered can be categorized as either convection or radiant heaters. Both of these heaters are similar in that they use heating elements in them to produce their heat. The major difference between the two is the way in which the heat generated is dispersed.

Convection heaters are intended for large rooms ans spread their heat using the rooms air flow. This is achieved by permitting the heat it produced to rise and then circulate throughout the area it’s in by using the rooms normal air currents within this area. Radiant heaters differ in that they are mostly used to heat smaller rooms or areas and it achieves this by directing the heat produced in one specific direction, in other words it does not make use of the rooms natural air currents.

Both convection heaters and radiant heaters can use ceramic heating elements to generate the heat, which signifies two things. First, the electricity consumed is less using these elements, resulting lower energy bills and second, the fire hazard risk are substantially lower as in contrast to other varieties heating elements.

There are various heaters that use ceramic elements because, as noted above, they are not only simple to heat up, but also signify a lower fire risk than other heating elements such as coil. Coil heaters produce heat by having electricity running passing through numerous metal coils that comprise the element, this results in the coils to glow and hot enough to burn

Even though ceramic heaters utilize ceramic plates that have their edges attached to just a few metal coils. These coils are heated in a similar manner to the ones in a coil heater, but the difference being that the heat generated is absorbed into the ceramic plates and then distributed into the surrounding air. One of the big advantages of ceramic plates is that they do not get as hot as the coil ones do, the heat is released faster, and when the heater is turned off, they coll down quicker than coil ones do

Spaces heat up quicker with ceramic heaters because the plates heat up quicker than coils and does this using a smaller amount energy. The process can be sped up by using numerous ceramic plates in a heater, meaning each coil element doesn’t have as much ceramic plate to heat up, making the whole appliance more effective and efficient. Ceramic heaters often make use of internal fans to disperse the generated heat throughout a room or area, and they also have thermostats attached to ensure the elements do not overheat. Fire hazard is minimized since after the heater is turned off, the fans will continue to run for a few minutes to cool down of the heating elements. Additional safety features that come standard in ceramic heaters include tilt detection that turns the appliance of if it by accident falls or tips over and an auto off/on button to program the heater to turn off and on at desired times.
