Are you scared to death about writing articles? Do you think you ll run out of great ideas to write about? Are you afraid that your sub niche doesn t offer a good enough spread of information to write about? You re not alone. So many would be writers quit before they re ahead because of this fear.
It s an age old instinct. Getting intimidated to the point of quitting is something we ve all been guilty of once or twice in our lives. Whether it s writing, or maintaining a business, or horseback riding, sometimes the fear the essential unknown will stop our endeavors dead in their tracks. But, it s important to understand that the actual incident we fear is inconsequential to the fear in and of itself.
I don t think I have to repeat President Franklin Roosevelt s famous post Pearl Harbor line, but it s the ultimate truth: fear itself! Too often, it s the fear that pushes us to the limit, not the actual occurrence.
Sometimes the thing we fear most really happens. Then what? I m willing to bet that 99 times out of 100, the very thing we feared the most really didn t turn out to be that bad in the first place! If fact, i ll further wager that often the very thing we feared served to help us along the way! Turning a disaster into a benefit separates the winners from the drifters.
Back to writing. You have ideas in that brain of yours that you d never thought you d have! Never underestimate your mind. It sounds a bit oversimplistic, but you ve got the greatest, most powerful super computer in the world resting between your ears! The more you exercise it, the more ideas will come.
One method I like to use is to read the work of others for inspiration. Remember, you re looking for inspiration, not actual paragraphs. In short, don t plagiarize! Search for ideas and things you probably haven t thought of. Often, you ll be looking at other articles and find inspiration for a topic that isn t even covered! The simple act of searching alone is sometime enough to engage your brain into a creative nirvana. This is an invaluable source for writing inspiration.
Think. Brainstorm. Explore as many options as you can. Think of niches, sub topics, and mini ideas. Write down ten ideas, then write pieces based on each one of those ten!
One inalterable matter to keep in mind is quality. No matter what you re writing about, quality must be held as the ultimate ideal. If you remain informative and interesting, the value of your article will come naturally. Have a mind to keep your readers engaged and you should never have to obssess over the quality of your work.
Your writing does not stink. At the end of the day, you need motivation. We all do at times, no matter how driven we are. Confidence and drive are virtues in any endeavor. Stay confident and driven about your intent and abilities. Believe it or not, we will soon read your articles with as much enthusiasm as you had the moment you wrote them!
