Audi was born out of a 1932 merger of 4 car producers - Audi, DKW, Horch & Wanderer. The 4 rings of the Audi emblem symbolize these formerly independent producers. Audi has dominated the European car markets ever since its inception in the year 1899. Audi is a Germany located corporation and is also amongst the oldest automobile making companies of Germany.
The Audi variant range in India includes the Audi A4, Audi A6, Audi A8, Audi Q5, Audi Q7, Audi TT and the super sports car Audi R8.
Available in two variants - A4 1.8L petrol & A4 2.0L diesel, this variant is focussed to the premium luxury market in India. The A4 is the base range auto in the range of world class Audi automobiles now available in India. This car is also positioned as a compact executive car around the world. Audi A4 is powered by 2.0 litre 4-cylinder FSI Direct Injection engine. A4 has AWD with 6-speed manual transmission. A4 2.0 T generates an output of two hundred hp at 5100 - 6000 rpm & a torque of 207 lb-ft at 1800-5000 rpm. Audi A4 3.2 generates power output of 255 hp at 6500 rpm and a torque of 243 lb-ft @ 3250 rpm.

Both of these are direct injection units with turbochargers, beefy pulling power and outstanding fuel efficiency. The 3.0 TDI is the most powerful motor in this range with 176 kW (240 hp) and 500Nm of torque. It speeds up from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds with a top speed of 225 kms/hour.
In quattro's 25th anniversary year, Audi sets new standards with the Audi Q7. Abiding the winning idea of quattro all-wheel drive and taking it into a promising future. Combining the dynamics of a car with the qualities of an offroader, the Audi Q7 made its world unveiling in 2005 at Frankfurt.
Audi, as usual, has penciled some serious equipment. Both top-of-the-line variants come equipped with a brand new version of Audi's quattro or four-wheel-drive arrangement. Built-in in the product is torque vectoring that permits the inside wheel to be braked, so as to permit the outside wheel to get more torque in a bend. The A7 is furthermore the 1st car to be constructed on an all new platform, which in the not too distant future will support the new A6. While it is not an all aluminium design, the A7 makes use of loads of the light stuff; upto twenty percent, which consists of body panels & suspension components.
Audi, the German top end auto producer, continued its amazing performance in India. The corporation sold over 1876 cars in the first eight months of 2010 and has surpassed its 2009 annual sales of 1658 vehicles. The corporation has recorded a growth of 66 % over the same period in 2009.
