The sprawling new US$1.15-billion home of the Dallas Cowboys is nearly sold out for the 2009 season. Team spokesman Brett Daniels says Cowboys Stadium in Arlington is 95 per cent sold out. A few thousand season tickets remain. Daniels on Wednesday told The Associated Press that more than 22,000 "Party Pass" tickets, at US$29 apiece, have been sold.
The program launches with 14 commissioned artworks, which will be installed in prominent locations throughout the Stadium. Franz Ackermann, Annette Lawrence, and Olafur Eliasson are among those who have created new work for the program.
The stadium's design will also enable it to function as a community resource and civic meeting point, with the exterior and end-zone plazas serving as key gathering and entertainment spaces.
The Dallas Cowboys offered a peek Monday at how the high-rollers will enjoy football at the team's new $1.1 billion stadium. Cowboys officials conducted tours of the stadium's first completed suite: a 700-square-foot, $175,000 room that seats 18. The design featured luxury of the kind usually seen in high-dollar steakhouses or mansions.
The suite was filled with Brazilian granite, Canadian marble, leather-clad walls and walnut trim. The front of the bar was wrapped in crocodile leather and stocked with Woodford Reserve bourbon, Patrn Silver tequila and other premium liquor.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said recently that 273 of the approximately 300 suites had been sold. The prices range from $100,000 to $500,000 a year, which includes tickets and parking but not food or drinks.
The Cowboys kept the identity of the owner of this Silver level suite secret.
AEG Live and Live Nation, in cooperation with Marshall Arts, announced today that Paul McCartney is confirmed to play Cowboys Stadium on Wednesday, August 19, 2009. This monumental event will be the legendary performer's first Dallas concert since 2005, and the only Texas performance of his current series of 2009 North American dates
