You'll love burning wood wicks! Imagine the romantic, soothing crackle of a fireplace in your own handmade candles! All-natural "Soft Wood Series" wood wicks will enhance any candle line. The wood wicks are treated with a clean, patented burning agent to give you the ultimate performance in an all-natural wooden wick. Other wood-wick candles on the market tend to not burn properly. Our wood wicks burn clean and will not lose their qualities in even the strongest scents. These wicks are perfect in soy wax! They are also recommended for use with gel wax, vegetable wax and most paraffin waxes.
Soft Wood Series wood wicks are very easy to use. This is the perfect wood wick complete with the custom tabs. Tab the wicks prior to placing in the wax. Melt your wax and pour it into the container. You'll find that the amount of crackle directly relates to the amount of color and fragrance that is added to the candle. Fragrance levels between 6 - 8% produce the best crackle. Let the wax start to get slushy (solidify on the bottom) then center the wood wick into the wax . That's It! As with all candles, you should allow yours to harden overnight before burning.
Soft Wood Series wood wicks are available in four perfect sizes:
Small wood wicks - 3.5" long x 0.25" wide. Perfect for containers 3" - 4" in diameter
Medium wood wicks - 4.75" long x 0.33" wide. Recommended for contains between 4 and 5" in diameter.
Large wood wicks - 5 " long x 0.5" wide. Recommended for containers between 5" and 6" in diameter.
X-Large wood wicks - 5" long x 0.75" wide. Recommended for containers 6" in diameter and larger.
NOTE: Most companies offer the above 4 sizes of wood wicks. Some companies offer only 3 sizes. If you're trying to match wood wicks you already have, measure them and compare to our sizes. The company you purchased them from might well offer different size wicks.
Before lighting, wood wicks should be trimmed even with the top of the wax. This is to ensure a better crackling sound and cleaner burning candle. If your candle crackles too much, flares up, shoots sparks, or smokes, put it out and trim the wick closer to the level of the wax.
How to use wood wicks:
1. Make sure your wax is specifically designed for containers. We recommend soy wax but any gel wax, vegetable wax, or paraffin wax will work.
2. After wax is melted, add color and fragrance.
3. Trim the wood wick to the estimated height of the wax after cooling. Add roughly 1/8" to allow room to light the wick.
4. Pour the wax into your jar and allow it to cool until solid enough skin to hold the wood wick in place. Depending on the size of your jar, this should take 2 to 3 hours.
5. Insert the wick into the metal tab and push it into the center of the candle. Be sure the wick is seated at the bottom of the jar.
6. Candle must harden at least 24 hours before you attempt to light it. If you're going to be shipping your candle, allow at least 48 hours before applying the top. The candle must be fully cured in case the shipping box is turned upside down during shipment.
