Anyone in direct network marketing knows that in order to be successful you have to be very good at recruiting and building a productive downline. In most cases if you rely on just the marketing training that most network marketing companies provide, you will find them to usually be inadequate.
After being in this business for some time now, two things have become abundantly clear. First, you have to dispel the fact that your downline doesn't have to do anything to make money. Hopefully your company doesn't sell itself on "the easy road to riches" or "our product sells itself." But if it does, be honest and give your new members a realistic view of what it is going to take to make money. This will let you quickly weed out those who will never succeed from those who are willing to work to get their business started.
The other thing you must do is provide your own step by step training program based on what you have found that works for the type of business you are promoting. Now that doesn't mean you should completely ignore all company provided training. Pick and choose the pieces you have found to work the best and add it to your approach. This step by step plan will go much farther in helping to "duplicate" your methods in your downline.
Here's how I did just that. I carefully put together a specific step by step program for them to follow. I carefully explained why it was absolutely essential to have their own website if they were going to be serious about this business. I showed the how to get a website up and running quickly. I suggested some other training I had used if they wanted or needed some extra help in certain areas.
I laid out a complete approach for getting traffic and list building. I showed them how and why list building is so critical to having a meaningful presence on the web. I showed them what it takes to start branding themselves as someone to trust and follow. Next, I laid out an approach for email marketing and how to go about promoting the direct network marketing opportunity to build their own downline.
I showed them how to become an affiliate marketer to provide them multiple streams of income independent of the business opportunity. We explained how their list that they were building would become their most valuable asset.
If you look at this approach and say to yourself - "that takes a lot of time and effort" - you're right. It took time and effort to put the program together the right way. But believe me it was worth it. Once it was together it could be delivered by autoresponder to everyone who joined my team. Any questions were handled by email. Additional material was available on my website or I pointed them to some specialized training that I had used and found very helpful in specific areas. This is a worthwhile effort that will pay for itself very quickly. Try it and you'll be able to provide valuable coaching to your downline.
