It happens quite frequently that man are accused of being both physically and emotionally abusive, but the topic seldom comes up when women are considered physically and emotionally abusive. It is for this reason that behavior theorist Dr. Anthony Robert Taylor has recently taken a much closer look at the behavior of women on online dating sites.
Sharon Elizabeth Whitley (beatrix_kiddo) was on of many convicted felons of the state of North Carolina that not only demonstrated emotional abuse but also a disturbing amount of emotional instability. "One of the greatest insights of this experiment is how cluster b women can be detected through, not only their profiles, but also the language they use in emails, phone conversations, and how they deal with rejection".
Four participants had initially opened four fictitious accounts and addressed similar topics in different ways. Some profiles had pictures and other profiles did not, and the wording of some of the profiles also worded differently (although one gangster profile was also formed). Based upon the number of posts of the women contacted, the topics they participated in, and the language construct, a pool of women was selected to attempt an online relationship with based upon the ages of the four profiles.
This is where things get interesting, because even though the study was particularly interested in women with borderline personality disorder, there also appeared to be an overlap with histrionic traits and a lack of empathy among the participants no matter how the selected correspondents communicated. One woman in the study of particular interest, was a convicted felon of both the states of Georgia and North Carolina who had kidnapped a child. She is in the amber alert data bases, but the story ends with psychological projection.
The psychological projection demonstrated by Miss Whitley was astounding. Within two days of making contact with her, she was sewing a wedding dress and attempting to force a marriage with hypnotist Ryan Evans. But everything she did, she would blame Mr. Evans for--which is psychological projection. She accused Mr. Evans of wanting to marry, and she accused him of everything she did during their correspondence. She even resorted to threats and intimidation factors. "The funny thing is", Mr. Evans recalls, "When we first began speaking to one another she spoke of how she hated people using things against other people after the relationship expired". This is exactly what Miss. Whitley did, and even though she had demonstrated several borderline traits, the had far more histrionic tendencies than most borderline women do.
These findings support the latest DSM changes in cluster b diagnosis, but any hope for treatment is still a long shot. "She said her family didn't like her, that men only wanted to use her, and that I was unforgiving", Mr. Evans recalls. Yet, she herself was projecting all of her traits to me. I wasn't surprised after she was in the data bases that she was a felon. She was middle aged and it isn't uncommon for a borderline woman to get in trouble with the law by this time. She wasn't working, she had no emotional stability whatsoever, because she continued "spitting". One day I was the love of her life, and the next day I was evil. The only way to stay in good terms with the cluster b is to keep giving them what they want. When this ended, the psychological projection began.
The smear campaign also came, as she collected support and NS from outsiders who had little to do with the circumstances. What these finding s will do for "nons" is give us the tools to identify them much more quickly. In all there were only one female felon discovered, but Miss Whitley was the first sample yet I've come across that demonstrates a spectrum of bpd/hdp/npd. These findings will support the latest revisions of the DSM and the belief that language construct can be used as primary tools to identify women and men with borderline personality disorder.
These findings will also hopefully give us more funds to do more test on online dating sites.
