History of Tadoba National Park
The Tadoba Andheri Tiger Reserve was created in 1955 and considered as the oldest National Park in Maharashtra. In addition, it is one of the 28 Tiger Reserve Projects in India. It covers an area of 116.55 sq. km having Asiatic lion, Crocodiles and Jackals as its main attraction. Tadoba National Park is frequently referred as The Jewel of Vidharba. The park s name was derived from “Taru,” a local God or diety while the Andheri River that wanders through the woods gave the name of the sanctuary.
