- Hand Forged Blades - The Psychic Power of Fire, Forge, and Blade By:-Ben Rial
Can it possibly be that a little portion of the blacksmith’s energy is imparted within every sword? Could it be the ancient saga of the bladesmithing art carries with it small pieces of each blacksmith that has undergone the art of the hammer? That one way or another a particular psychic element imparts the essence of the blacksmith in each blade he has fashioned. Is that all unprovable foolishness? Perhaps, although then again, maybe not. I can’t avoid but discern a transformation when I work on a sword. As if in some manner I transcend and become one with the coal fire, metal, and hammer, even though it is merely a transitory feeling.
- Hand Forged Blades - The Soul of a Handmade Blade By:-Ben Rial
I think that a portion of the bladesmith’s life-force is forged into each blade. The primeval craft of forging swords carries a slice from the spirit of every metal worker into the production. The idea of the bladesmithing occupation, steeped within mystery and secrecy for centuries, imbues a certain metaphysical essence into the blade. A wide variety of persons detect the difference between a hand forged blade and a machine made blade. There is a definite change in the steel, in addition to the perceptible change I observe even within myself whilst forging a knife. It is as if a fragment of me goes into each blade completed. Maybe the extraordinary abilities of such famous swords as Zulfiqar and Colada comes from the energy and life force of the metal worker that made them.

- The Essence of Handmade Swords By:-Ben Rial
Could it perhaps be that a small fragment of the blacksmith’s spirit is imparted inside every sword? Just maybe the lengthy annals of the bladesmithing art carries with it small pieces of each bladesmith that has undergone the art of the hammer? That somehow by a certain psychic force implants the spirit of the metal worker in each sword he has produced. Is that completely romantic garbage? Conceivably, but then again, maybe not. I cannot help but become aware of a transformation while I labor on a knife. As if in a particular manner I transcend and feel as if I have somehow, in some way or manner joined with the fire, steel, and ringing hammer, though it is only a brief effect.
