Lots of people are looking to save money by growing their own vegetables and fruit at home. Though you may think your garden is too small you'd be amazed to find just how various tomatoes you go to get out of small area. You can even grow them on a windowsill indoors.

One of the best ways to grow tomatoes using grow bags these are full of rich soil and just about the finest thing you can give to your small plants. But even if you can't afford grow bags you should go to grow them just fine in some decent soil and small pots.

Almost any variety of tomato can be grown in a grow bag. So, let your imagination run wild when it comes to the type of varieties that you would like to grow. Why not go for a nice selection, some larger tomatoes for cooking with some smaller cherry tomatoes to enjoy with salads.

Make sure you choose the most sunny position in your garden to grow your tomatoes. If your garden doesn't see much sun then just go for the lightest position you have available. Just follow the instructions on your seed packet or the ones that came with your small plants.

While it can be a nice challenge to grow tomatoes from seed, if you have no growing knowledge, it may be worthwhile buying small plants. This way you know they have got off to a healthy start, and they're still not too expensive. While at the garden centre it will also be worthwhile picking up some slug repellent as these little pests will be a big enemy to your small plants.

When the tomatoes are in the grow bag and growing is critical to keep them watered. Also, as they grow it is very important to make sure they're supported and did not get blown down by the wind. Another good reason for this is because when they start bearing fruit the weight of the fruit does tend to pull the plants downwards.

From now on is just a case of looking after them until the fruit starts to materialize. Once they do, it is time to start giving them some tomato feed mixed with water. This will ensure that the fruits grow to their full potential.

By this time he should have a nice crop of delicious tomatoes. This can be used in almost every meal you make, but there's no need to let them go to waste if you have too numerous. They are so versatile they can be used to things like chutneys, chilli sauce or why not even give some to the neighbours?

Tomatoes really are so stress-free to grow that you will be surprised at just what good gardener you are.
